Why are North Melbourne fans so intent on looking for validation for their club from the posters on Big Footy? Congratulations, you still exist!

Someones got the shits. How about doing something to lift yourselves up rather than complaining about the big, mean AFL?
Find a geographical area to call your own, and stick with this time. Should have beat the Saints to the punch in NZ and made a stack of $$ as a result.
And Essendon 'grew their brand' effectively by claiming ANZAC day as their own (with Collingwood)....it was a day that other clubs had played on before, but Essendon and Collingwood had the idea to market it strongly. Credit where it's due. That's exactly the victim mentality I talked about. If only we were given blockbusters or Friday nights like Collingwood or Essendon - disregarding they get those because they've grown their brand - we'd be fine.
Essendon was a mediocre club off the field before Sheeds arrived. It's not up to the AFL to help you out, but change your circumstances, just like the Hawks and Dons have done.
You grew because people assumed you'd be a reasonable side.Friday nights and the Grand Final breakfasts were fantastic initiatives. But surely all North fans would have to agree the club didn't build on their great 90s era. Hawthorn has built on their successes.
Mufassa, why do we have a large supporter base? We grew out of the same limited northern suburbs to become the second biggest Melbourne club.

I think North and Melbourne should merge, if for no other reason than their jumper would look fantastic. Think about it; Kangas blue vertical stripes with Demons' red vertical stripes.
MAKE IT HAPPEN AFL

They also grew their brand by moving to the MCG, and staking a claim to Friday nights, in both cases helping to squeeze North out of areas where we had in fact tried to 'change our circumstances', well before Essendon did.
'Playing the victim card' won't help North overcome current challenges......but it is a bit galling being preached to by Bombers fans about how we really should do something to change our circumstances.......what, so you can cash in on any other good ideas we might have?

It's fair to say North failed to capitalise on the success of the '90s, including failing to secure 'ownership' of the Friday timeslot. It's also fair to say we failed to hang onto because clubs like Essendon & Collingwood demanded a piece of the action, when they had initially shown no interest in the Friday timeslot. The 'galling' part is that you did sweet FA about your circumstances to capitalise on your success and grow your brand and supporter base when you were riding high in the 90's, and now it seems to be everyone else's fault that you have a small supporter base.
The only reason other teams 'cashed in' on your ideas is because you guys had no idea what you had or how to use it, but others did. Clearly that hits a nerve with most North supporters.

I daresay if the Anzac Day slot were handed over to say, Geelong and Hawthorn, you might feel similarly galled.
I'm sure there are a lot of factors behind that.
Two major historical factors :
1) Essendon was part of the VFL for decades before North was
2) When North was admitted to the VFL, Essendon was concerned we could threaten them, so ensured that conditions of entry included them owning part of what had previously been North territory for their recruitment zone (and over time, supporter base)
Plus, I think for most of the last century, the residential/industrial mix would have been higher (ie more residential) in Essendon's zone than North's.
I doubt you'll find any North fan who believes we should play every Friday night, or indeed would want to, even if it were on offer. Can any North supporter see the difference between a weekly time slot, which can be filled for 22 H&A games a year, and a day that happens once a year, on which we can (and do) play multiple games?
How can anyone in their right mind think it is in the realms of possibilities to play every single Friday night? Such a terrible comparison.
North supporters have to be the biggest bunch of sooks on the planet.
Right now, we have an acting CEO. And you have The Weapon. I'm happy with that.5 years ago North had a CEO.
17 weeks after the bloke walks out on you and you haven't found a CEO? Not to mention he's now challenging for the board now.Right now, we have an acting CEO. And you have The Weapon. I'm happy with that.
Not to mention in 1921 Essendon lost their playing ground in East Melbourne, North allowed them to play at Arden Street and an amalgamation was drawn up meaning North's entire playing list signed on to play for Essendon-North Melbourne at Arden St.
The Essendon board took the decision to court to void the amalgamation then kicked Essendon Association out of Windy Hill and kept the North players who were part of a VFA team known as "The Invincibles".
As a result Essendon went back to back with a side full of North Melbourne players in 1923-1924 and North Melbourne effectively re-built their team with the Essendon Association players.
This is the reason why Syd Barker (the man who the NMFC Best and Fairest is named after) is also an Essendon Premiership player.
Pretty average history the EFC club has when you read about stuff like that.
Don't get too excited about every beat-up you read in the paper.....17 weeks after the bloke walks out on you and you haven't found a CEO? Not to mention he's now challenging for the board now.
Things are dandy down North Melbourne way.
I'm not excited. I'm genuinely concerned.Don't get too excited about every beat-up you read in the paper.....

Still, more than one a year would be good.
To show your displeasure, be sure to mouth this at the coaches box like a deranged psychopath next year. Make sure come on here and brag about it too.

Take out the ones you brought from a struggling interstate club and the ones you won due to a dodgy rule in the 70's....Wow did not know this - add these to the one's one during the war, round robin premierships, salary cap cheating we have won as many flags.![]()
You follow a richer club with more members.........big deal. Well done you, for making them such a rich club.Your club would be a good starting point.
My coin jar is probably richer.
