All that I think that NM Designs VFL logo needs is the Big V in the background behind the VFL name. The Big V is the symbol of football in Victoria and it should grace the logo of he premier football competition in the state. The new VFL logo destroys the old VFL logo, and having the AFL logo on top really puts the VFL in the position of being just an off shot of the AFL. The VFL is on the same level as the SANFL and the WAFL. I don't see these leagues adding the AFL logo to their logo.

Hi wizardwaffle , yes , to the best of my knowledge from an old Footy Record I had , I say "Had" because I can't find my collection of VFA Records I got a few years back , so for absolute proof , I can't be 100% sure , hence the reason why I am happy to be corrected by anyone who does know for certain , keep up the great work with the jumpers your posting , Stuart.

I have put all of my VFA logos onto one picture.

Picture has been updated further. See Page 1 for current picture.

The 1913 uniforms for each of those clubs would be the first jumpers with numbers for each club as numbers were introduced during the 1912 VFL Finals Series.

Hi Everyone , To begin this is my first post and whilst I have seen bits and pieces of this site before signing up , I have to say it's great to see a discussion thread on the old VFA and one I hope I can contribute to in a positive way. I want to say that the work posted up by other posters (VFA Jumpers / Logos etc.) is awesome , great job by all who have contributed , keep up the great work , it's really enjoyable to see the effort that's gone in to the various work. I also have to say that I like (prefer) NM Design's VFL Logo. There are a couple of things I think I might be able to help with - 1. Berwick were the Trojan's at first when they joined the VFA.
2. I have heard Werribee's jumper after the Richmond type one was Yellow / Black Sash and Red Collar and Cuffs. ( Happy to be corrected )
3. Unsure about the Validity of this , Prahran's late 1880's strip was either light blue w/ blue down middle of jumper (like Melbourne's 1897 style) or colours reversed , that
is - blue w/ light blue down the centre. The early 1900's they supposedly had a sash jumper before the Monogram one.
4. Port Melbourne 1886 team pic ( Blue w/red side stripes ) If my eyes don't deceive me then the Blue looks more like Teal or do the colours deceive?

Cheers , Stuart.
That Blue is not necessarily the colour Blue they actually used.
What they did in those days of B&W photography was the paint the colours on afterwards.
So they'd get a photographer to come in and take the photo, and he would take it to a painter who would colour in the photo. Then they would present it to the club.
So that Blue is just whatever colour paint the bloke had.

I remember seeing another version of the Oakleigh logo, with a Devil on it, as they were the Oakeigh Devils.
I remember seeing it on TV after a VFA game in the 80's or very early 90's

Hey Wizardwaffle if you message me an email address I can send you the a full folder with VFA club logos I have gathered over the years, some are very HQ. I have the Nth Ballarat roosters VFL shield too but it was actually your own previous BF post I got it from (that one is not such HQ I'm afraid). You should also add the old essendon A dreadnaughts one you made up.

Many of those clubs, especially those from the country, weren't actually VFA clubs. They only played VFA clubs but couldn't play in finals and win premierships.

Clubs like Heidelberg were only part of the VFA for the first year of the competition.

Albert Park was only a club for two years until they merged with South Melbourne. I have created a logo for them to go with their jumpers collection.

I can remember the they were called the Devils as well. But like Berwick, I don't have their logo for their other name. Having the logo for the other name (The Oaks) means that I will use that logo and not create a Oakleigh Devils logo.

The black sash continued on the back and had a
White number. The sponsor on the front was "smorgan"

I wore it first in u/18's ,

Also if its easy to upload a photo on here, I
Can take a photo of my "W" jumper, I'm sure the "W"
Started from the cuff's , cheers.

Oh and also with the black sash on the back of
Yellow jumper, I actually stood on the far wing
With my back to the commitee while they chose
Which colour number to have. Choices were , white, red & white with a red border.
They chose white.
Also known then as the " Red nosed Tigers" lol.
Reason for the sash on the back was not to clash
With sandy.

Also the first "W" jumper, had red above "w"

Just added Sunshine to the collection.

Love the pictures you's have put on here,
Brings back so many memories of the VFA days,
That's when towns were proud of there footy teams, and
LOCAL players, VFL is not the same, it's a pity.

Also, don't mean to be picky, the "S" on the
Sunshine jumper was about a third smaller.
