I've been following this particular story about a band called Kombo Kolombia who played a gig and were than kidnapped, tortured and their bodies dumped in a well. They are not thought to be linked to drugs as they played a popular style of Colombian music rather than narcocorrido which is dedicated to glamourising the activities of drug lords, but singing the wrong song to the wrong audience can get you killed.

The LA Times tends to focus on the Mexican Drug Wars a little and has some fascinating articles.

The number of Mexican murders (usually related to drug crime) are astonishing.

Ciudad Juarez is across the border from El Paso Texas with a population of 1.3 million, roughly the size of Adelaide. In 2009 it had the highest homicide rate in the world at 130 per 100,000. That's 1,690 muders for the year!

It is a country where so many people are being killed that there simply isn’t enough room to bury all the bodies.

Escalating violence from Mexico’s ongoing drug wars has seen more than 17,000 people killed this year alone.

A police detective who disappeared in 2013 and was found in a mass grave in 2017, to the cemetery in Palmas de Abajo, Veracruz, Mexico. Huesca's remains are among more than 250 skulls found over the last several months in what appears to be a drug cartel mass burial ground on the outskirts of the city.

Last week’s discovery of an innocuous refrigerated truck offered a gruesome portrait of the escalating crisis.

The truck, found parked near the city of Guadalajara in the state of Jalisco, was laden with 157 decaying bodies.

Locals complained about the smell of rotting flesh - but city officials said there was no room left in the morgue to store them.

Mexico isn't even Ground 0. It makes some drugs but nowhere near the scope of Columbia or other South and Central American countries.

Problem for Mexico is it is the border which opens up the route to the US which then feeds Hollywood, their rich plus gaining access to their Criminal Networks there and round the world.

Now Columbia and such should legalise granted but hard to see what Mexico can do herself. They are caught in the crossfire of all the South American Coke Gangs, their own Criminal Cartels, the US Gangs, DEA, CIA and whoever the * else. They are in the middle of a rock and an allmighty hard place. They really need to fortify their borders themselves and somehow keep everyone the * out till they rebuild their own society.

Mexico should just be turned into a massive garbage dump and nuclear testing zone for the world.

Set aside a large piece of South Africa and relocate the people there then use Old Mexico as a win/win for the world by dumping our garbage there and then blowing it up. Many problems solvered.
