Norwood did what Norwood do and demolish the one club PAFCers. Mitch Grigg in the best handful until an injury.

Westies knocked of a late surging Centrals. A more attacking look from the team this year. Crouch and Laird in the best couple with Crouch probably best on.

Bays v South tonight

Westies and Norwood looking a class above.
West actually kicking the Footy forward this year which is good. And they have Travis Tuck to come in within the next 2 weeks.

Don't fool yourself, there's only one team that's class above :p

Westies another big win. 100+er against South.
Travis Tuck got best on as well in the twos, he'll be in to debut next week.

Went to the West and South game. West were great, Schmidt was good again but I guess you want to hear about Rory Laird.
Outstanding game, had 17 handballs and 10 kicks and sneaked down and kicked a goal late in the evening.
The thing that you like about Rory is that he is a very sure handler of the footy. Rarely fumbles and always is looking to be giving the ball off. Not tall but he will move into the hole and cut off a pass to the forwards and in a marking contest he seldom gets beat by a player of similar size. Nice footballer who if he was upgraded would be fine, whether he is what we need is for the coaching staff to answer.
Hartigan played but West were so dominant and the running in waves was that good that Peter Knights would have had trouble stopping them. He played some of the night on a young kid called Keough who played a ripper so I would would like to see him in a closer contest, how can you shine against those odds.
My favourite Daniel Caire played another great game, pace, composure, strong mark and his closing speed to spoil is superb should at least be on our rookie list, this lad can play.

very fun game. tippett would have to go close to best full back in the league, kept wundke to 3 touches, 0 goal and 0 marks.

laird was outstanding, per usual. schmidt was best on again and is a chance to be 9/9 in magarey votes. it's amazing to think he had more clearances (11) than our lead ruckman had hitouts (9).

im still amazed beech didn't get drafted last season. 16 touches, 14 marks and 4 goals 2. such an assured set shot.

tom keough and nick homburg are going to be something special too. keough's work is outstanding. there was one play where we turned it over in the forward lines, and he sprinted back to defence and helped out, then sprinted back up to the forward line again. just thing's like that.

easily the most talented group of players i've seen at west adelaide in my 13 years of attending. 2003 was a great team, but this looks to be a class above. and with tuck, hartlett and green especially to come in, who knows what could happen. the way we're playing so far this season, it's just waves of attack. get it on half back and in a blink of an eye we're at half forward. and guys like beech, keough and big enough to actually get it on half forward, which has been our major problem for years, and either get it in long to the goalsquare, or have the confidence to back themselves in a shot. exciting times.

Shaun Mckernan has found form with Glenelg...8 goals

sorry that was possessions not goals, still it's an improvement for our Shaun
You bugger.

As for Johnston, it would be nice to see him have a month next to Tex to see what he could do. Would he be a better option than Stiffy?

What's happened to Martin and Riley? Don't seem to be playing. Nice work LJ :thumbsu: Needs 5 games in a row to see if he can make it. Brilliant goal kicking SANFL form for over a year now. Would equal porps or stiffy in the pressure stakes.

Riley is injured, Martin not sure.

Good news

However I sense that for LJ to get a game either Tex or JJ need to get injured or Sando needs to change his thoughts on our forward structure

It's strange that West Coast survive quite well with three tall options. All three or ours are mobile forwards and would give us more marking options when we were bringing the ball out of defense. Plus with Tex and Johnston in the team it would force opposition teams to develop a new strategy...guard the 60 metre arc

I sense the same. Over the February part of the pre season, Sando was talking about using the option of the 3 tall forwards and always referred to Smack, Walker and Jenkins. Not once can I remember him adding LJ to that equation, either it was just a freudian slip of the tongue by forgetting about him or he was that far back that even Sando didn't expect him to come into calculations.

I'd love to see a 3 tall forward line with 2 or 3 smalls but some how I suspect we won't be seeing that as we need that 4th small or running player to accommodate the speed some of our smalls don't have.

I think we are using more smalls to cover more ground, than having less smalls on the ground (with that extra tall) who are lightning quick who can cover the same amount of space.

I wonder of LJ could come in to play Stiffy's forward role at some point.

..This is what annoys me! This boy can play, give him more than 1 week in the seniors and let's see what he can do. I just wish they would put more confidence in the younger generation as they do certain down hill skiiers.

As a lead up forward?

Yeah, why not. That seems an idea role for him.

However, as a nuggetty crumbing player who needs to rove the ball off the pack, I highly doubt that he could for fill that role.
