Round 9 Trades

Last year I spent hours on it. This year my team is so rubbish that I'm going to take it as it comes. If I get 10 donuts than whatever I can still go to the vent thread and blame Birchall or Hartlett.
ive also spent more time on it than is probably worth. Its still too far away to realistically plan for. You get a suspension or injury or two in the next 5 weeks and it throws your most well-thought out plans out the window.

Theres almost no point planning for 5 rounds in a row.

For those wanting to trade Ellis in, remember Conca, Tuck, Newman and Grimes are all to come back into that side. Ellis is currently playing Conca's role at the moment, will be interesting to see how he goes with those players back in. I assume he'll end up averaging 75-80ish by the year's end.
Are we talking about the same conca?? No one plays the conca role..

This week:

Goodes > Thurlow, lock it in

Neade > Roughhead, Buddy or NitNat? looking for a long term fwd for keeps, which one is my best bet?

current FWD:

Bartel, Rockcliff, JJK, Stevie J, McCaffer, Neade

On a side note I will finally be clear of any Port player, pat myself on the back! :p

I might be missing something with staker????? Low be???

I have 350k ready to upgrade. I was thinking Mayes and wines to premiums. My mids are Albett, swan, cotch, murph, pendles, o meara, wines and Mayes. Any thoughts on who I should get in
Staker will get consistent games with the lions, if he can stay on the park injury wise. He is rookie priced at 136k and will average around 70 imo.

For me, this week im going to downgrade Heath > Thurlow and upgrade Neade to Stokes.

Neade will change to Mayes if Mayes is not dropped like I expect him to be, given Voss's penchance to dropping players after they start with the vest, with the obvious exception of Black.

Next week I will then downgrade Mayes to Staker and Upgrade Daw to a premium ruckman =)

Here's my ranking (1,199), call me crazy:
Pittard > Thurlow
Wines > Naitanui

Teams looks like this: 42K in the bank
B: Goddard, Heppell, Hanley, Gibbs, Scotland, Vlastuin (Terlich, Thurlow)
C: Ablett, Swan, Pendlebury, Watson, S.Selwood, O'Meara, Dwyer, Mayes (Crouch, Saunders)
R: Cox, Leuenberger (Blicavs, Moller)
F: Rockliff, Johnson, Bartel, Kennedy, Franklin, Naitanui (Rowe, Macaffer)

But seriously am I crazy for trading Naitanui in? He's so cheap and posted two decent scores in his first two full games back. He'll probably end up being the 2nd ruck in the second half of the year (Leuenberger has been solid for his price, but unless he picks up and starts averaging 90s, with the amount of trades we have, he'll probably find himself out of the team). I doubt there will be an opportunity to get him cheaper as well.
Thinking the same thing with Naitanui. Did think he was going to take a step before the year started so should stick with the gut.

This week looking to bring in a couple of mid premo's who seem to have bottomed out in price.
Rd9
Libba > Watson
Wines > Cotchin

then the following week (injury permitting) bring in Staker on the bubble and upgrade MJones to a premo M or M/F

Rd10
Heath > Staker
MJones > Murphy/Pendles/Harvey

This week I think I am going to get rid of O'Meara. I know it is probably one week too early, but GC have Hawks then Geelong then North. He will bottom out very quickly and I can go to JPK/Pendles and complete my 8 premo mids. I know Ellis still has a little more in him, but surely he is going to start getting some attention now. No team is going to let him get 39 possies again. I'm willing to pass on that one, shoulda got him earlier, can't justify it now. JPK appears to be back in form and price is about to skyrocket back up.

This week:

Stevenson > Webster
O'Meara > JPK/Pendles

Next week:

Mayes > Staker
Goodes > Hanley/Heppell

What the **** am I going to do with Hartlett? Is it even worth trading him at this stage?

Need to start sussing out the bye rounds. We should start a thread for how people are going to play it. Round 13 is a huge worry...but the question is how much work do we put into balancing out our teams? No doubt the winner at the end of the year will be someone who played it smart and fielded a decent team in all of the byes.

I can't justify trading Hartlett now man... He is far too cheap and you will get nothing for it. He actually showed a little bit of potential on Saturday, he just had a lot of handballs and no marks. I still think he will come good, sit on him. We got trashed, not just him. The whole team scored bad DT wise.

.

I'm in the same boat with Hartlett - I'm hoping he's not suspended this week because that will further screw up my decisions on what to do with him. If he is suspended I'll probably shuffle him to the bench and move rooks, his price won't drop any less (thankfully) and I can deal with him next week.

I don't think there is any value in getting rid of him at this point either - at 358k what exactly can you do with him? Ellis seems the logical option but if you also have Vlastuin in your backline it becomes slightly tiger heavy leading into the bye rounds (although HH shares a bye with the tigs so perhaps less problematic).

Anyone going Webster over Thurlow? Is cheaper and also playing for a team that is probably going to keep playing their kids over Geelong who are going for a flag.

Have been planning to get Watson for the last few weeks but looking at Pendleburys upcoming games has swayed me to him.

My likely trades will be:

Moloney/Lucas to Pendles
Heath to Webster

Are Hartlett and Birchall really a risk of missing games? Both didn't look that bad at all, reprimand at most I am hoping. What about Stevie J? Will he return this week? Worst case scenario I could lose three this week and it will be a disaster!

I'm hoping for a reprimand for Hartlett at least, didn't see the Birch incident. Re: SJ, the only thing I'd say is look at both Beams and Hill for evidence of calf injuries taking a long time to get right. I wouldn't be surprised if he misses again.
