Yep Garlett is class, and I really think that being "discarded" in the WAFL has been the best thing for him.

If he'd been picked up by an AFL team, the message may have not got through. Call it tough love.

He will be in the starting lineup for an AFL team, Round 1, 2014.

I'd love him, but do we need him ????.

Hows the sound of Garlett and Josh Simpson thru the middle get you ? Big risk at the time but whats the upside? If he gets his shit together we wont get a chance at drafting him - if he implodes well its the last pick of the rookie draft, speculative pick and worth the punt.

Good on the kid for starting to turn it around, but I highly doubt the results would've been the same if he was picked up. It would just further reinforce in his mind that his talent can get him where he wants without the application.

Previously I would have agreed with you, back in the schwabbolly days.

The culture (Walters turnaround) we have now and the position we're in, arguably worth a punt thats all at pick 107 or whatever. They would have considered him obviously and decided no. Am I going to go troppo on them - nope. I finally feel Freo are in good hands and I'll back them in.

Nah he had to show that he wanted to play, and play on a footy clubs terms; not his own. Few more games like that he'll go in the top 6 to 15 and good luck to him, amazing talent.

Howson has two goals so far in the reserves - would love to see him earn a league debut in the near future....
