We have good systems in place and those at VFL level are never far away from getting a look in. Things have changed a lot by way of our player development model.

We may not have every area covered but that's hardly Malthouses's fault who adopted a list with his hands tied through trade period for the mistakes of Ratten.

I would have subbed Betts out at half time, to give Yazz a better run at it. Betts showed that the lack of match continuity had caught up with him.

Robbo is tough and not scared to go for the hard ball. Would've kept him on for that reason alone.

Still feeling quite depressed, I was so confident at half time as we were running all over them and smashing the stoppages.

Waite was just ****ing incredible, everyone says we don't have a true KPF well we do, he just needs to cut out the brainfaids. Casboult just signed Hampsons exit papers as well.

Honestly don't know what to think, the Lucas miss, McLeans drop when he would have hand passed off to a running Simpson for a goal the could haves, should haves. Massive test now for Mick, mentally the boys ned to be repaired as that is a season defining loss and we face a punishing team next week.

Should have won - we had way too much class across the ground. Either Essendon set their defensive structures in a way were we couldn't penetrate efficiently or we have plummeted in our efficiency when going i50. Either way didn't help Betts had an absolute stinker.

We also had too much class sitting out the game as a Sub.

My main concern about last night was the continual reliance on Waite. No doubt he is crucial to our FWD line, but last night reminded me of the old days of 'Kick it to Fev'. We have done well to spread the goals when he was out of the side, and the last few weeks Waite has been a great target, I just hope he doesn't become THE ONLY TARGET. Even lil Jeffy gave off one to him last night that he usually would've had a crack at himself. Our forward line needs to continue to spread the load and not revert to the One dimensional forward line.

Games rarely come down to individual efforts but Yarran letting Melksham get past him for a simple mark and match winning goal was a season low. White did well on Crameri but his attempt at a 55m long bomb that fell very short and wide highlights the lack of composure in his game.

All the bigs did well but none of the smalls capitalized. Credit to Curnow and Cachia for their run with roles...our 'name' mids found a bit but none were damaging save for Simpson who had his best for the year.

Pretty well allI take away is the umpiring. Brilliant. Wish they served that up every week.

That's fair enough and I have no reason to doubt what you have seen. Due to work reasons, I'm nowhere near as familiar with the goings on at the club as I used to be. I probably only ever get to a handful of games a year these days, if that.

BUT having said that, I will only believe it when I start seeing reults. And I really, really hope it's sooner rather than later.

Correct Lance. I mean well done to take the op when presented but I still have NFI how Carlton conspired to loose that game! I know Eddie was unsighted but Waite was imperious, Casboult and Kruze (final term aside) dominant, Hendo controlled HB, Zach killed Davey, White blanketed Crameri, Murphy run amok on Hocking's tag, Cachia beat Watson, Curnow controlled Stanton etc., etc. etc. I mean seriously, HOW THE **** DID WE LOSE THIS GAME!!??

I'm still trying to figure it out. Did we tire and fail to stop their run? Did they finally get their match ups right and were we slow to react? Did we stop? Did we think we had it in the bag when we were five goals up therefore stopped?

I slept on it yet IM STILL ****ING ANGRY!!!!!

No NO no! they let too many frees go in the 50 that should be paid. plus shouldn't White have been kicking from inside 50 as the 50m against the scum was 5m inside the square. The thing that hurts even more with this loss is letting Jake F$cking Melksham look like a hero with 3 goals including the sealer he is a squealing little bitch.

Playing Yarran as a sub was a joke. Our forward line needed someone with skill and composure, and we had one of our most skilled and damaging players sitting out for 3 quarters. Either the coach was being too clever by half or just dumb.

Judd kicking the goal would have iced the game at that point. 36 points down and with Carlton building a full head of steam, you would have seen a lot of dons players start dropping their heads... but they scored on the rebound and gave them a lift.

But hey... Judds a star with a load of runs on the board while Lucas is still a kid starting his career... guess some of our supporters like playing the blame game...

Said the same thing at 3 quarter time.

They scored the rebound and goaled and then went on to kick the next two goals.

Will we learn from last night?

You were watching a different game if you thought the umpires should have paid more. Melksham is what he is... he also wanted the ball more when it counted and had the composure to ice the game

Was good. He had 18 effective touches and I reckon half of them came in the first. When the game opened up he should have been slicing them up. He wasn't.

mental toughness is our biggest weakness at the moment. We've lost 4 games that were a kick the difference in the last few minutes, not good enough. Having said that we're going ok really. no one has destroyed us and when we've been done lots we've always fought back. They just need to learn how to win better under pressure.

And to people criticising MM give me a break. He's 11 games into his Carlton career. Lets judge him after 3 or 4 seasons. He took a rabble of a Collingwood team to a GF in 3 seasons. I'm hoping he can do the same for us.

I'd almost prefer us to be behind with ten minutes left on the clock. We seem to handle that pressure better than being in front.

Overall thought we showed many good signs last night. In my opinion na few players just showed that they are still lacking what it takes under pressure. White's missed tackle was very soft as was Lucas' miss and Yarran's lack of effort in that marking contest. Think that long term Laidler and when fit McInnes will likely push White out as he just doesn't seem to have enough composure and belief. Also Lucas whilst improving also seems to lack belief in himself under pressure. Yarran is a super talented player but has brain fades.
