Roast Biased umpires - time for Carlton to make a statement

The hodge dropping the ball was the worst decision I have ever seen
However I hardly think it was even a decision for the umpire
For some reason if the ball is knocked out it is now play on, where has incorrect disposal gone? Does it still exist? Can we get this clesred up

The fact that you have
Hodge - attemtping to run away getting tackled and dropping the ball
Curnow - picking it up in a pack getting tackled with one arm pinned

And the Curnow one is the holding the ball?

Either our game is ruined or the umpiring is ruined - fix one of them!!!!!!!!

Not sure what you guys have done to piss of Giesch.

Hired Malthouse. The first conversation that I had with one of the Collingwood fans that I know (30+ year life member of the club that honestly calls it as he sees it, loathes Carlton but isn't going to tell you that the Pies didn't have an advantageous night from the umpires if they did) told me to enjoy getting reamed from the umpires as a result of it. This guy believes that the AFL has it out for Carlton and that they never liked Malthouse either. Combine the two and you were going to get trouble. Unfortunately for us Carlton fans he's been proven somewhat right.

I for one really enjoy this new philosophy on reduced umpiring. However the clear cut technical free kicks such as holding the ball are also falling by the way side. Incorrect disposal has been neglected for a long time. It's simple, you may only dispose of the ball in two ways... if you have prior opportunity and lose the ball in the tacke it's a god damn free. I think there was one with Sewell? Even though i hate you pricks it was very poorly umpired.

There was a distinct difference in the deliberates, the Hawks one was a total miscue that was supposed to go along the edge of the centre square. The Carlton one was a flush kick out of a pack that went exactly where it was intended. It was more a couple of holding the ball, in the back decisions where you guys were very hard done by.

A fifty metre miscue? Yeah right. And like the umpires at other times have given a shit avout miscues anyway. At least with the Carlton one, there were players in the vicinity of where the ball went over the line. I know, it happened right below us. Kicking player was to our right, ball went over the line to our left.

I was gobsmacked when they paid it, especially after not paying the previous one.

And of course, it gifted another forward 50 entry to the Hawks.

What about Mitchell's throw. He's got a career as a pitcher for the New York Yankees after football.

I'm just completely baffled

I don't want to blame corruption but some more LIKELY issues are one

-Rules that don't make sense - it doesnt matter IF youre holding the ball, only if youre ATTEMPTING to NOT be holding the ball - what the **** is that
- Arrogant hero umpires trying to influence themselves on the game, all trying to get nicknames and be famous like "Razor" Ray

I have umpired cricket matches before, i can safely say deciding whether a ball will go on to hit the stumps, attempting to hear if it edge the bat, if its too high, if the bowlers foot was over the line - NOW THAT IS HARD

But whether a free kick is necessary, whether they have disposed of a ball correctly or whether they have not had enough prior possession is NOT hard.

Umpiring should be better, rules should be relaxed and focussed mopre on actual affect on the play - if a head high bump hurts someone, yes free kick, if a player carresses someones cheek play on, this is not hard, we jsut need to fix it

Oh and not to mention the umpires hate us for osme reason

We were robbed tonight

I have to say tonights game was one of the worst umpiring displays i've seen in quite some time. Carlton fans have every right to feel hard done by.

I have literally drank a whole bottle of bourbon and I still want the blood of the umpires on my hands! I'm being serious if I ever meet one of them tonight I will choke the life out of them! That was so biased and a direct spit into the CFC and fans face that I'm at boiling point! No more complaining time for affirmative action! Make a statement and act otherwise if this happens in a final it could truly cost us a flag

Shouldn't be saying this but hell I'm that angry I don't care, got told but someone "in the know" and I mean literally head of the fish in the know that we have already gone to the afl behind closed doors with complaints but not much they can do and if we go public we will be making it worse for ourselves cause at the end of the day this is a business and you can't spitting on the brand out in the media.......... But as I this thread F*** it this game has just rap*d us so we got nothing lose

how good have the last few weeks been? the umpires were seen and not heard....one game later...seriously its poor and there is something wrong with the game when umpires get worded up and it means they officiate poles apart from the prior week.
Loved the malthouse press conference. was absolutely fuming, and with every right to be.

also how can we have people on report for head high contact yet no free be awarded in the game? the henderson one directly cost us a goal because we lost him dazed for a few moments while sniping hodge ran straight through him.

I feel the umpiring certainly took away a lot of momentum from us at times. I officially don't understand the holding the ball rule anymore. How that wasn't incorrect disposal to Kruezer against Sewell has me stuffed, and dropping the ball against Hodge running down the wing to Judd. And the deliberate out of bounds not paid against Duryea (I think it was) when he kicked it sideways with no teammate near the area but yet they ping McLean for doing the same thing. And even the last goal Franklin kicked, he had a handful of Jamison's jumper when they were in a one-on-one.

The experts continually say don't blame the umpires, blame the interpretations. Those instances I mentioned are clear mistakes by the umpires, not the rules committee.

It's an absolute myth that umpiring doesn't affect the result of games.

Next morning I'm still fuming.

-Simmo holding the ball
-Mitchell's throw
-hodge holding the ball not paid (this was unbelievable)
-Gibson free to rape and pillage
-hodge high contact on murph and hendo
-goal line review not being done last week but done this week (both times farking us over)
-Waites 50-50 late hit being called on his reputation
-the fact that they were able to drop the ball when tackled and we weren't
-10 dubious free kicks in a row against us at a crucial point (that's like having an extra gun mid tearing it up with all there disposals contested)

Were dominated general play. We should have won that. I'm sure the afl aren't conspiring against us, and poor umpiring shouldn't matter as (usually) both teams have to deal with it. But tonight was not right. I need an explanation.

Jeff giesion was a terrible coach and from his explanation of the push in the back rule he clearly has nfi what he is doing. How is he year after year unquestioned in his position. Rules change week to week and have done for years. How can you play or coach when your not sure which rule is the "hot" one for that week.

I try very hard not to complain about umpires, but this year it has been farked , we have had a shocking run and it's got nothing to do with how we play the game.

Oh yes, and how a professional umpire can miss the high contact to a players jaw (yes, a players jaw FFS) when the play is in front of him is mindboggling.

That goal review resulting in a goal, how can they say that ball had not definitely crossed the line already? The goal umpire said he believed the ball had crossed the line touched and was a point, yet the reviewers can confidently say it hadn't fully crossed the line. Surely it was inconclusive and you give the benefit of the doubt to the goal umpire? The replays didn't definitively show that the whole footy hadn't crossed the line. The angles were shithouse.

I'm not looking forward to listening to the bullshit dribble coming from the Geisch this week when he is asked about numerous poor decisions. They aren't held accountable enough for the crucial mistakes they make. I know it's hard, but games should never be influenced by umpiring.

I went to the game last night with a bombers supporter, so probably the most neutral person you can get at a blues/hawks game... And he was on his feet and screaming at some of the decisions paid against us in the fourth. Even the hawks supporters next to me were booing the umpires when they gave some frees against us, because they didn't want to win the game based on that sort of bullshit.

It really pisses me off when umpires blatantly change the course of a game due to inconsistency. If you're going to pay it to one player, pay it every single time it happens. Some of the frees gifted to hawthorn were clearly pulled out of nowhere, whereas buddy can drag Jammo around by the neck all night... No free! I didn't see the hawks dispose of the ball correctly ONCE... No free! Our captain's jaw is ****ing broken... No free! Mind boggling.
