Round 10
East Malvern vs Dingley x 6G

East Brighton x 6G vs Highett

St Kilda City vs Cheltenham x3G

Heatherton vs St Pauls x10G

Chelsea Heights x 6G vs Clayton

Clayton did do a good job. The ground a month before the finals was quite poor as a finals venue and for it to come up the way it did they should be congratulated on their efforts.
From what we have heard, Chelsea Heights, Dingley, Mordy, Springy, Clayton, Chelt have all nominated interest in tendering for finals this year. For memory it's 18K minimum for Divvy 1, up 2K on last year.

Hope not at Chelsea cos its a paddock.Whats Mordy's ground like this year cos last year it was like a beach
Dingley's ground would be ok

It is in very good nick. Best I've seen all year. Played there a few weeks ago and it rained all week and I expected it to be a mud pit. Was very surprised as it was better than the springy district ground.

Wouldn't think Dingley would get Divvy 1 considering they haven't hosted finals before and they will make finals. Toss of the coin between Springy and Mordy for Divvy 1 surely. What's ever in better condition should come into it. The rest of the grounds are pretty similar. Not sure about parking with Chelsea Heights though? Battle for a spot during a season game.

Looking at the scores in the newspaper between St Pauls and Heatherton. St Pauls allegedly kicked 12.5 in the first quarter. Both sides failed to score in the 2nd quarter and basically Heatherton matched St Pauls on the score board after quarter time i.e 4.11 to 4.2. Did everyone just call it quits after quarter time or are the quarter by quarter scores incorrect?

According to SFL radio yesterday morning the quarter by quarter results are incorrect for that game.

Apparently St Pauls kicked 7 goals in the first term or there abouts

I have always found it strange that if a club is playing in the finals, that eliminates them from hosting finals in that division.

Surely the best ground should be utilised for Div 1, the 2nd Best for Div 2 and the 3rd Best for Div 3.

If a ground doesnt have fencing then utilise Temp Fencing. If it doesnt have enough parking, then it probably shouldnt be considered.

I was at Chelt last year watching the 3rds final before going off to the Seniors at Clayton. Poor old Bones, Chelt Pres, nor his committee couldnt attend the Dingley/ Chelt Final because they had been awarded the 3rd Div Finals and they had to work. In other words, those that make it happen miss out which in my humble opinion, is stupid. If Chelt wasnt a better option for the 1st Div Finals than Clayton then I'll wear a dress.

Take Dingley, we have lost 2 games this year both at home. If we were awarded Finals, tell me that St.Pauls or Chelsea Heights would be too concerned. The crowd would be massive and there would be no complaints from anyone. That is what Finals are all about isnt it?

Mahalo, although Dingley lost 2 games at home, ever thought that if it were an away game you may have lost by more?

Home grounds IMO do provide an advantage through ground knowledge & supporter base in the vicinity, now whether or not that's enough to get a win it depends on the team but a mutual ground is the best option to make it fair to all.

Springy has always been good but Mordi would be fine also.

She's a fair glue pot in the middle of Dingley though which is a slight concern, as is the fact that there's not a lot of public transport there. Aside from that, the rest of the ground is tippity tip top and it's a good ground to watch footy at.

Our ground is in pretty good nick, but I don't think we're going for 1st div finals anyways.

McKinnon Reserve is tip top also but our council won't let us host paid finals, hence why fencing was removed so that we couldn't charge entry during h&a season.

I'm not saying the finals should be played at Dingley, i was merely saying that if they were St.Pauls and CH should be just as confidant because they have already had a win there this year. My choice for finals would probably be Cheltenham or Mordy, and yes, even if Cheltenham are in the finals.

This nonsense about unfair supporter following for the home team at finals time is crazy. If your supporters dont follow you to the finals wherever you play then your club should do more to attract local support. Perhaps a good start would be to promote local kids rather than paying big $$$ to outsiders?

The supporter point was probably weak, but not sure who your referring to with regards to promoting local kids as St Pauls have blooded plenty of Colts and have plenty of ex.St pauls juniors amongst their ranks.

I'd definitely be more concerned about what team plays their home ground well, as opposed to what the crowds are like.

I dare say not too many people would be happy if we were playing at home in a granny.

Not referring to St.Pauls at all CT, obviously you blokes are doing things very well at the minute.

Just saying that if ALL Clubs concentrated on promoting local kids through their system they are likely to have stronger local support! Its not rocket science!

That being the case I assume Steve Harrison and Nigel Carmody will be taking the spots of a couple of non St Pauls people instead of demoting a few home grown kids. ;)

Might happen but no club is different......we all have players that are non-juniors of the club.

What do you think of where the finals are going to be played ?

Springvale Districts Division 1

Clayton Division 2

Cheltenham Division 3

Well done SFL
Is that confirmed FG? Sounds like the best venues. Mordy probably a little stiff. By the good win yesterday. What was the word around the game. Every week we hear St Pauls have 7 or 8 out. From what I hear you were just harder at the footy.

I don't love going to Springy... There's no atmosphere there either. But it's probably the best ground for finals footy.

No issues with Clayton & Chelt getting the other grades. I guess they all had the best applications.

Both teams had players out as every team does most weeks and both teams played "a very hard at the footy" game and I'm sure their would be a lot of saw body's still today, but it was great to get the 4 pts . This week will be another test playing Chelsea Heights who now have most of their players back
