QF1: Hawthorn vs Sydney, MCG, Saturday Night
QF2: Geelong vs Fremantle, MCG, Friday Night
EF1: Collingwood vs Port Adelaide, Etihad, Saturday Afternoon
EF2: Richmond vs Carlton, MCG, Sunday Afternoon

The finals as the ladder currently is, the only change that could possibly happen is 1st/2nd & 7th/8th. Essendon isn't counted because of their likelihood to drop points. If they don't, they'll take the place of Port Adelaide.

Tips, etc. Go for it! If it does end up being Richmond vs Carlton, I'm going to that!

Swans, Geelong, Collingwood, Richmond

Swans would want to put in a good effort next week, they are 0-3 vs Hawks and Cats with a total losing margin of 102 points. By comparison North is 1-3 with a net losing margin of 11 points.

I think it'll go like this:

QF1: Hawthorn vs Sydney, MCG, Friday Night
QF2: Geelong vs Fremantle, Etihad, Saturday
EF1: Richmond vs Carlton, MCG, Saturday Night
EF2: Collingwood vs Port Adelaide, MCG, Sunday

Collingwood are playing on Sunday in Round 23 and Richmond the Saturday night. I doubt they'd give Richmond an 8 day break and Collingwood only 6.

QF1 is always saturday, 7 day break, QF2 is friday 5/6 days break for those teams. They're always played at night as well, so I can't see the EF being played on saturday night.

We had similar form last year going into the finals, coming off loses against Hawks, Pies & Cats, except we managed to beat Hawks in Tasmania. It would be nice to get a win against the Hawks; we've won the GF playing away from home in the first week of finals and we can do it again. Very concerned with injuries though, they're stacking up at an alarming rate.

This.

My ladder predictor shows week one of finals as this:

Hawks vs Sydney

Richmond vs Essendon

Collingwood vs Port

Geelong vs Freo

FWIW, the Grand Final comes down to either Geelong vs Freo or Geelong vs Hawks, depending who wins the Hawks/Freo prelim. Couldn't decide.

Yep, not the end of the world but am surprised those two are scoring that heavily against the Swans.

That certainly won't be how the first week of the finals are. Collingwood play on a Sunday in Round 23, so they have to play on the Sunday in the first week of the finals. Plus why make Gee/Fre have both 6 day breaks while Haw/Syd both have 8 day breaks if they both play each other in Round 23...that makes no sense. Gee/Fre will play on the Saturday as they both play on the Saturday in Rd23 and Haw/Syd will play again on the Friday as they both play on the Friday in Rd23...

I'm assuming the final order will be: Haw, Gee, Fre, Syd, Ric, Col, PA, Car. Sydney might beat Hawthorn next week at ANZ and that would certainly shake the match-ups around. Plus Richmond/Collingwood % battle is interesting.

QF1. Hawthorn V Sydney - Friday 7:50pm, MCG
QF2. Geelong V Fremantle - Saturday 2:15pm, Etihad
EF1. Richmond V Port Adelaide - Saturday 7:45pm, MCG
EF2. Collingwood V Carlton - Sunday, 3:15pm, MCG

I wouldn't be disappointed to play Geelong at Etihad with our record at the venue under Ross Lyon.

Having said that, we should be at the MCG as both Geelong and Freo are more likely to play in the grand final than Richmond/Collingwood/Port/Essendon/Carlton.

Plus I remember how we blitzed the Cats at the G last year ;)

Agree chunkychicken come finals everything else goes out the windows. Hawks get the best treatment, then the cats then it goes down the line like that. If 6th and 7th have to play at Whitten Oval so be it.

If Swans could get Hawks @ Etihad, just about every Swans supporter would be frothing at the mouth. With our record there.. :)

FWIW:

Friday night: Hawthorn v Sydney at the MCG (after they played at ANZ the previous Friday!)
Saturday afternoon: Richmond v Port at the MCG
Saturday night: Geelong v Fremantle at Etihad
Sunday afternoon: Collingwood v Carlton at the MCG
