Surely there is no way Wicked Witch will be getting AFL ever again after this.

How anyone can say that it looks good when there's the moment of 5, yes 5! Geelong players chasing after one Sydney player. No good game would ever, ever have that. Even the worst AFL games didn't have that ffs!

this is the worst afl game though

I think it looks a lot faster paced than the original, which I like, the "running" game with Adam Selwood chasing down Cyril Rioli in the original annoys me so much. The stadium isn't always full, another nice touch. Marking, it's hard to judge but it looks easier too which is good. I saw at least two completely different "specky" animations, the one by the Brisbane player at 0:21 and the one by the Essendon player at 0:38 are clearly different. All the team management stuff looks great. The colours seem more vibrant too, almost cartoony. I guess that's a personal preference thing, not sure what I think about that until I'm playing it on my TV.

The animations look no more awkward than the original. Some of the old rose-coloured glasses syndrome happening with that game methinks.

I'm looking forward to it. Whether it's better than the original or not I have no idea. I hope it is, but until I have a controller in my hand I can't say. But based purely on the trailer it's not the complete disaster you guys are talking about. N64 game? Please.

Let's compare shall we...

To my eye, the BA effort looks much, much more solid. The kicking action may be better in the WW effort. Rose coloured glasses indeed. Remember, that game is over 2 years old.

People complaining about the number of speckys in the AFL Live 2 trailer and thinks that therefore the actual game will have that many should check out how many were in the trailer for the original! :p

Overall the trailer for the original does look better. But all that proves is that their trailer is better.

You have to remember, all the AFL Live trailer is composed from is camera adjustments on the game creation software for close ups and views from replay.

AFL Live 2 is all gameplay with exactly how the game will look.

Big Ant = an edited trailer (what you see is what you expect but don't get)
Wicked Witch = what you see is what you get.

Sorry, but its the truth. In the end AFL Live 2 compared to AFL Live... AFL Live 2 is better.

Yeah, cause I'm sure having 5 players in a conga line chasing a player is better than having close-up camera cuts.

Er, what? Not sure how you can assert that 2 is better. You might think the trailer for 2 is better, but to suggest that 2 is better than 1 when no-one has played it is silly.

Also, those things in the BA trailer; we did get those. Of course the trailer is edited, they both are. If they weren't you'd just get a minute of uninterrupted gameplay. The BA trailer is stylized as you would expect, but the animations used in the BA trailer are the same as those in the final game (as far as I can see). The view is zoomed in and looks more dynamic in the trailer than in the final but it's the same gear (correct me if I'm wrong Ross) and it would be unplayable like that anyway. The fact that WW's trailer is not as stylized and dynamic just speaks of a lack of care in how they present it. Trailers should be exciting; the AFL Live 2 trailer is not.

What strikes me is the connection players have to the ground (and each other) in the BA trailer. The WW trailer has players skating over the surface like they're on silicon covered skids.

From that trailer, what I can say is I like the animations, i think they are look better than those in AFL Live 1.. Though I think AFL Live 1 has better graphics out of the two. Not sure what to think of it.

I'll definitely be waiting until people with a bigger budget buy this game and report back how it plays. I'd definitely get it but perhaps when it drops in price a bit! I'm sure I'll find a pre-owned game somewhere!

You're the problem.

What the hell was with the animation at the :11 mark? Did he teleport? Also lol at the horrible face melting screen glitch.

Will not buy, will not support a shite game and shitty publishers.

The problem? Without support companies will not take the risk to develop future AFL games. I know AFL Live 2 looks shit, but it's still better then nothing and although I'm disappointed Big Ant didnt make it I'd rather Wicked Witch then nothing.

In an effort to balance my previous comments...

Given the size of the target market, we're lucky to be getting any AFL game at all and I am grateful that studios are making the effort. What does frustrate is what could have been. BA at the helm of 2 could have produced far and away the best AFL game to date, but well done to WW for having a go. My concerns and criticisms notwithstanding, hopefully it turns out to be a very playable game. I'll buy this for the simple fact that if I/we don't, the odds of another AFL game being produced (especially in the current climate) will be virtually nil. Support this iteration in the hope that BA get the license next and produce the game to beat all.
