Doesn't say a lot? ok well in terms of each players worth to the team we have a defensive player that is top 10 in his position in the league.. you put Ellis, V and Conca ahead of him.. where would they be for their positions in the comp? Not saying they aren't great players, but Houli's skill set and game style is more valuable to the team.

Put it this way, if Houli is worth over 300K what is Paul P getting paid at the Hawks and why isn't Enright worth more than 1.5m?? Does that make Enright's wages the steal of the century?

BTW, defense is more important than running up the ground drawing a forward away. The game is still about contested possession. So job number one is defense as a defender. Run is secondary.

But I am curious, how do you evaluate offensive run of defenders in free space??

The beauty about someone like Malceski is defense not just attack.

BTW I am sure I can put a few defenders ahead of Houli more than 10. How does Goddard rate , Hodge, what do you do with Mitchell. Let me think Waters was injuried and how about others?

What about McVeigh?? Can Houli go in the middle and rack up 20+ possessions in a qtr in a final and kick a goal?

As they say, I cannot divulge my source. All I can say is they are from within and are usually spot on.
The club feels it is 3 or 4 good players short of a premiership side. It has to have room in its cap to add these players. It's no good if we are already at 100% as that leaves us powerless to improve. These 3 to 4 players are not necessarily all from outside.
For example, if McBean suddenly stepped up next year with a couple of special performances, his price skyrockets. To re-sign him we may need to pay 2 to 3 times more than if he languished in the twos. If we ran at 100%, we can't pay him and he leaves.
