Inspired from this thread from last year - The evolution of your first 22 as the offseason progresses

The idea is to post your best 22 of the players we currently have to our list, and then add to it as we sign players. Ergo, you can putt Matt White and Daniel Flynn in your teams right now, but don't put Polec or Bontempelli in yet. If we sign them, then you can update your 22 with Polec or Bontempelli.

Feel free to do the reserves 22 as well.

The idea of this thread is to post your preferred first 22 as many times as you wish as the summer progresses and the stocks of individuals on the list and team needs rise and fall with form, fitness and the injury attrition that inevitably comes when player-x is 'burning up the training track' at Alberton - the establisheds, the bolters, the rookies and the position experiments.

There's no real rhyme, reason or competition to this other than we all love picking the team, no dedicated thread has been made yet and it'll be interesting to see how far away we all are to the thoughts for the new regime.

Some notes:
- Wingard to spend more time in the midfield than he has been.
- Redden to spend a sizeable amount of time up forward as a KPF and rotate ruck with Lobbe when needed.
- We absolutely need Butcher to improve. Schulz won't be around forever and may not even last the year if Butcher doesn't take some of the heat from him.
- Pittard unlucky to miss out. I love Jasper, and I reckon he'll be a star for Port Adelaide, but he just hasn't shown enough as of yet to justify a first 22 inclusion.

Leading contenders and what I think they need to work on.

John Butcher - Needs an injury free run and to start clunking them again
Jarrad Redden - Get fit, work on forward craft.
Matthew White - Curious to see his role, yet to be seen how effective he'll be tagging outside runners.
Aaron Young - Bulk up, play 4 quarters.
Andrew Moore - Play 4 quarters, get more football.
Campbell Heath - Lock down smalls?
Jack Hombsch - Most unlucky player not to be in my team at this stage. Stay injury free.
Tom Logan - Does all he can, no doubt will play lots of footy in 2014. Like the last 7 years hoping more skilled players go past him.
Sam Colquhoun - Lets get physical. Physical.
Jake Neade - 4 quarter performances, hit the scoreboard.

Neade's probably a shock but he'll start round 1 and hopefully extend through a few more games than the 2-3 he could manage in a row this season.
I expect Colquhoun to overtake Cassisi, hope for Butcher to overtake Redden and White would push someone out of the 22.
in my view our depth ends there with Hombsch + Logan the end of it, the rest are coming good/not good enough. Depth horribly shallow, 22 not too bad though with only real weakness our second tall.

Horses for courses I'd say. Would need him against the two Sydney teams with their 4 prong tall forward lines.

Your 22 would be short against them, but fine against teams like Freo/Carlton/Dogs/Adelaide etc.

Notes:
I expect Neade and Pittard to be massive improvers. Neade to play more midfield. Colquhoun can easily replace Neade/White though.
If he doesn't get injured, Hombsch should make our back 6 with dominating preseason/nab cup games. Also interchange cap might mean we have Trengove play as the second ruck
I don't think Cassisi or Logan will be first 22 until later in the season.
Butcher can easily lose his spot to Redden or another mid, pushing Trengove to play forward/second ruck.
White is probably first 22 since we've given him 3 years and is someone Ken targeted.

Any of Pittard (if we get more of the Pittard we saw in the finals and less of the Pittard we saw in the last few rounds of the H&A season then he'll be a definite in), Colquhoun (see Pittard, except vice versa), Heath, Stevenson, Neade, Mitchell, Butcher, Logan and hopefully Polec could easily slot into that 22 without me batting an eyelid. It's nice to have depth again.
