There's actually a greater need for Gumby than there is for Pears. We're pretty pretty good with tall defensive options but actually pretty lousy when it comes to tall forwards.

You cant have a injury prone forwardline with lick,chappy,hurley with a second year bean stalk and a rest ruckman. We will need some stability up forward with a proper KPF

I agree - Hurls, Hooker, Fletch/Pears in defence
Buckets, me, Ryder/big tommy up forward.

I agree that ppl become obsessed with picks.. and they usually end up poorly..

But in modern times.. a top 3 pick - especially if a midfielder - tend to end up pretty good players...

Pick 2 would be awesome.. especially if all we have to give up is Crameri and Myers.. can't believe it would happen.. but that would be the steal of the century for EFC.

If scotty wants to go he goes with my blessings.

There is a spot for him on the list though, keeping him as insurance if he wants to or we can't get a deal done would move him to the Hille role (backup ruck/backup kpf) and allow us to draft a young tall to stash

Much to the dismay of many.. especially you Jade.. Gumby is outta here.. he signed up last season to give it one more crack but the club just can't give him a certain starting position..

Very unlikely he would play serious time this year even if he stayed.. he is behind Hurley/Daniher/Tbell/Ryder/Carlisle/Hooker/Pears/Fletcher/Hardingham? - we will at most be taking 8 true 'talls' into a game.. so Gumby needs 1-2 guys to go down before he gets a shot..

Hopefully we can secure pick 33 for him.. that would be a major coup.

This is the crux of it, there is room for one in my view and at the risk of repeating myself and OhTayteRidge chiming in with his nonsense... Pears has neither a place as a KPD or a HB in our team it is worth investing in the potential improvement of Gumby for our misfiring FWD line than Tayte who doesn't have the game to fill a spot in a very solid defensive 6

That mega trade would never go through seeing as the team holding the ace (Melbourne) are getting d*cked the worse.

I'm a fan of Myers and I hope we hang on to him but let's be frank - he's currently a B-grader that could potentially become an A-grader.

so another day done in the AFL trade-athon... or snoozefest..

just 5 completed FA deals and 2 trades in a very dreary start to the off season.

For all the talk of FA.. again we see very little movement from established stars.. Lance Franklin the highlight, Daisy Thomas and Eddie Betts the other notables. Matt White and Sylvia the other two.

I'd say we have a little way to go before we reach US levels.. where there can be over 300 FA deals in a two week period.

Exactly, its just silly. And if we had a functioning forwardline there probably wouldn't be a need for either of them. I understand the club wants to develop from within but there has to come a time where they need to say "Look you just haven't worked out the way we'd hoped, and it'd be best for you and club if we traded you"

That's why I don't understand why we'd supposedly be interested in Vince. Myers will probably become an A-grader within the next year or two, while Vince is going backwards (B-grader who is probably heading for C-grader status).

Totally, i'd love to see him win a flag with Freo. He's what they need and he's probably not going to be in the side when we win won. You couldn't begrudge a guy with that injury history some success.
