Jones will pass Foley by about round 5. His highlights real doesn't show his toughness so only going off other posters but if he his tough and courageous like Morris he will slot straight in.

Hardwick would have a stiffy with these two guys running around.
Can also see the two of them rotating between back and midfield.

If that is the case , Foley should have been traded off. Furthermore, with Jones arguably 181cm and Houli 180cm how will they be able to handle 186cm+medium forwards aerally against certain teams like SJ and Bartel, drifting forward etc...

My fear is apparently there are a few shorter mids in this draft year so the question is against taller competition how will they fare particularly in backline/forward situatons? If Jones is so good at TAC at the end, no reason to deny it, how will he be able to replicate it against better bigger opposition in the AFL? Speed/endurance/agility etc.. because in a finals situation endeavour along shouldn't prove a differential because everyone should be having a crack! How would Jones go against Freos mids for example if the ball does not hit the deck from Sandilands?

I am not sure either way just atm my view is someone like Acres is probably more likely to have the tools to be effective in a number of different positions at AFL level and therefore possibly more valuable at pick 12. Just my impression atm nothing more

You don't remember Conca and Dea??
Conca was clearly always the choice they had made, well before the draft, they just didn't tell anyone that year (or no-one believed them). It's such a lottery after the first 15 or so picks, anything after that is impossible to predict, so Dea (or any other 2nd round pick) is a different discussion. That's where the real skills of player assessment show through, since so many are graded so close together. I suspect clubs are much more secretive (or flexible) about their selections in this range, hence the always widely inaccurate predictions.

The fad of mids with height is reminiscent of the fad of mids/flankers with athleticism from 2004-2007. Clubs who get caught up in it will regret it.

Hopefully our rivals waste a first round pick as a result of this kind of thinking.

I'm hoping for a solid draft with 2 potential best 22 players to add to our talent within the next 5 years before we have some significant retirees. A wildcard would be outstanding this year, just as Hawthorn drafted Cyril Rioli at 12 in 2007 and won the flag in 2008, let's hope we can find someone to contribute immediately and help us win a final and see how far we can go.

Lol you mentioned Collingwood. My other post even says I don't know currently who Collingwood will take. There are more ways to know where 2 players are going than knowing recruiters too ;)
So if you're not sure who Collingwood are going to pick, how do you know that both Lennon and Salem will definitely be gone by 12? Answer is that you cannot!

There is no way Jones would go past Foley by round 5.

Watch Foley come back bigger and stronger this year..

Yeah I can. Things do change. I'm still crossing my fingers and toes WC decide to take the local kid in the end.

Best bet is Brisbane still go McCarthy then Pies go Aish.

Emma Quayle has given me a glimmer of hope - in her phantom draft in this morning's paper, she reckons Lennon to us at 12 (we've also chatted to Crouch and Jones).

But yeah - bring on ...7PM oops

Jones is definitely the last resort. Pretty sure we aren't keen on Crouch. Unless it's for pick 50 or just due diligence in case he becomes available for trade in the future if he heads interstate.

Agree. Plus Jones will likely spend a year off half back. Whoever we pick at this pick is no guarantee of playing every week either.

Yep took Tigger how many weeks to crack it and he looks to have been a safer bet than anyone we might get our hands on tonight.

He's certainly more ready-made than any of the others. If we can nab Lennon he may play early because our forward line is shit and lacks class. Knights would have first crack if he's fit but that's far from a guarantee.

Knights is a leftie, Lennon a right footer , they would play on opposite flanks so can't see Knights stopping Lennon, with guys like Lids and Martin rotated most likely imo

Does anyone know specifically what time the draft starts? I know the broadcast is at 7 but I imagine the actual count won't start right then will it?

At work till 7, really don't want to miss anything!

I don't care who we get as he can hit Master Mcbean on the chest everytime.:D
On a less serious note,I hope we get Jones provided Salem is gone.Forget about Lennon or Freeman,We should be backing our development in those types we already have in McDonough,O'Hanlon, etc. For me its either Salem or Jones.

Probably talk crap for about 15 or so.

After days of stressing, I'm pretty certain and content that we'll be getting one of Freeman, Salem or Lennon (in no particular order).

It's widely accepted that none of these guys will go top 5.

Collingwood will take the 'slider' in Aish/Scharenberg at 6.
Brisbane will take Aish/Scharenberg/McCarthy at 7.
North pick is locked at 8.
Melbourne will take Salem/Freeman at 9.
Collingwood will take Salem/Lennon at 10.
West Coast seem locked to Sheed at 11.
Richmond will take Salem/Freeman/Lennon at 12.

With my logic being at least 1 of those 3 will be leftover for us to take.

That's the way I want to think today and I won't let anyone tell me otherwise
