Welcome: Which games do you have or want?

Welcome to the new Board Games board.

This board is for table-top gamers, not so much of the Mouse Trap variety.

Ideally with a new board you like to gather a group of people together ahead of time to give it an initial boost so there are discussions for people to take part in from day one. I wanted to get this board up now because it fits the BigFooty Geek section. We'll see how it goes.

I might gather reviews and play-through videos for different games, giving each game its own thread.

So: To kick things off, tell us which games you have and which games you have your eye on.

Recently I've been asking some board gaming friends for ideas about games that would suit my children, so I can drag them off the computer and TV ocasionally.

We came up with a good list, many of which work as simple time-filler games for adults too. I'll throw in links as I find them:

Bang! The Dice Game

Munchkins

Escape: The Curse of the Temple - http://www.shutupandsitdown.com/videos/v/review-escape/

Games from Gamewright like Spot-It!

Love Letter

Alhambra

Rampage

Takenoko

Smallworld

Adventure Time: Card Wars

Bobby Sitter

Dixit

Catan Junior

Cube Quest - http://www.shutupandsitdown.com/videos/v/the-dexterity-games-special/

Tsuro
Zombie Dice
Get Bit!

(Wil Wheaton has stayed about as annoying as he was in ST:TNG. If not more so.)

Good god!

However, when I remember that my comics collection will take over my office unless I build new shelves quickly, it isn't that surprising to find people with massive board game collections.

I look forward to your many new game threads in this board, hsquid :)

Power Grid is my favourite, but also have the below games (that I can remember). I have about 20-25 games in the cupboard, but some of them are kids game like Animal upon animal, Viva Topo, etc. Next on the list to buy would probably be Le Havre or Caverna.

TTR India & USA
Dominion & Intrigue
No Thanks
Lost Cities
Jaipur
Carcassonne
Smallworld
Pandemic
Dixit
Stone Age
Catan (though it is a bit flawed for me to really enjoy, the interaction with others is still fun)

Munchkin is great fun if the kids aren't keen on abandoning all technology to there is an app you can get that keeps track on what level each person is at as you play along with the board game. It's one of those great games that really is all ages to. We used to break it out on our work dinners and have a good laugh over it ^-^

I bought the original edition of Munchkin as a birthday gift for a friend and she went nuts buying expansions. I gotta say Munchkin Booty is quite good, especially when you start throwing in accents. :)

I picked up Munchkin, Love Letter, Smash Up and Castellan this week.

We've played them all. Love Letter has gotten a big run. Castellan is expensive and basic - pick something else at that price - and Smash Up is intriguing. Munchkin we played once but we'll be getting it out again soon.

A good mate of mine has a sh**load of different games. One that gets a regular run among a few of us is Judge Dredd (GW 1982). I believe it's out of print now, but still available through eBay.

The RPG? I have a copy - no idea where I got it - but have never played.

Played a lot of 2p Stone Age over the weekend, had a good time with it. A little on the light side, but still a very good game.

Also found a pretty sweet WW2 theme of The Resistance, so sent it off to the printers. Probably won't get to play it until Christmas as it is 5-10 players.

Geelong,
Wow ! Didn't know there were so many board games . Am interested though. All I really knew about are the old ones, like Monopoly, and one about a sheep property lol Didn't realise so many people were into these games . :)Most of my friends/ aquaintances play some form of cards.

Hey coffeelover, yeah, there are stacks and stacks of fun new games out there.

There are some nice games on this top ten list here -

Try one out that catches your eye. Generally you could start with games like Ticket to Ride, Powergrid, Settlers of Catan, Dominion. They are accessible super popular games.
