Which is all that matters :)

I can't wait until we meet in a few weeks, midfield battle will be huge. It will really test our mids which will be really good for players like Zaharakis and Heppell. I still think your mids as a whole is one of the best groups going around, lots of respect for Sydneys team.

Will be a great contest and a great test to see where we are both at. Expecting a full house and an electric atmosphere. Watching Kennedy vs Watson is going to be especially intriguing. Two of the biggest bodied and best players in the game fighting it out. Looking forward to it :thumbsu:

Tippett will be playing for you guys by then, we could see more midfield time for Goodes which will only be a bonus for you guys, that just makes you guys that much harder. look forward to talking more in 3 weeks time.

Here you go Brown and Gold. Hawks mids number 1?

Not even close. (Fremantle, Geelong, North Melbourne, Richmond, Sydney) all have better midfield then Hawthorn.

Don't get me started on Swan, Pendlebury, Beams etc. Everytime we play Collingwood we thump in the midfield and on the scoreboard. I'm happy to say, Hawthorn midfield is defenitely better then Collingwood. :)

Lions midfield is underrated.
Moloney is a clearance king.
Rockliff is a genuine ball magnet who always uses it well.
Rich has one of the most damaging kicks in the comp.
Redden ranked 2nd in the afl for tackles in 2013 (was first all year until the final round).
Black is getting old but is still very classy
Zorko is very clever, lays a lot of tackles, hits the scoreboard
Mayes showed he is an elite kick in his very first year. also hits the scoreboard
Hanley breaks lines, does magic tricks, kicks flukish goals
Raines always does a good job on whoever he's tagging

Brisbane midfield got smashed at times this year, but that is probably because they are all still developing. I think currently they have a middle-class midfield, but 3 years from now they will have one of the best in the afl

Not really.
How so? We got the 2nd best tackler in the league over the past 3 years (redden), one of the best clearance machines in the league (moloney), 6th place in the brownlow last year (rockliff), the magicians Hanley & Zorko, and the elite ball users Rich & Mayes. Just about everything you'd want in a midfield - how is that not a strong midfield?

Not really.

There are a few you have ranked lower that are clearly better.

Cotchin>Rocky
Martin > Reddan
Lids > Rich
Ellis = Maloney
Grigg < Hanley
Foley = Zorko
Conca > Mayes
Rockliff averaged more disposals, marks, tackles, goals and clearances than Cotchin in 2013, and he spent half the year on a half forward flank! How can you say Cotchin is better?

Who the heck is lids? o_O

Ellis = Moloney? You gotta be kidding right?

The only Richmond player I would give a clear win to in that comparison is Martin.

Whatever stat man - Cotchin is at another level than Rockcliffe. Let me know when he gets an AA selection. Delidio is Lids.

Grade 4 is when you learn these symbols <>

Pretty strong midfield 7 we have there
Despite them though, here are some KPIs for your midfield:
  • 14th in disposal differential (16 less than the opposition per game).
  • 13th in efficient disposal differential (0.8% less than the opposition per game).
  • 16th in contested possession differential (7.2 less than the opposition per game).
  • 13th in uncontested possession differential (8.9 less than the opposition per game).
  • 3rd in tackle differential (5.5 more than the opposition per game - good).
  • 13th in inside 50 differential (3.5 less than the opposition per game).
  • 15th in time in forward half differential (2:54 minutes less than the opposition per game).
  • 13th in hitouts differential (3.7 less than the opposition per game).
  • 14th in hitouts-to-advantage differential (1.9 less than the opposition per game).
  • 16th in clearance differential (3.4 less than the opposition per game).
You have some good young players in there - but at this stage, as a whole, they haven't been able to form a cohesive and consistent unit. I rate Brisbane's future midfield but we are yet to see what they're capable of.

Where were they ranked for magical acts - they do have 2 magicians in their side.

This shows how weak they are - they can't get the ball, they don't use it well when they do - but they can tackle - which is no surprise as they can't get the ball and have more opportunities to tackle.
