Why the **** did I write Hulkenberg? Haven't even been drinking :(
I partly laughed at you mistaking them. I partly laughed at the ludicrousness of your post. Nico and Seb were chatting happily in German. Lewis was just enjoying the moment. You were seeing things that weren't there.

Mercs are gonna be hard to beat until at least the return to Europe if somebody has good upgrades to their car.

Also does anybody else use live timing while watching the races? It's been changed this year and is now pretty much pointless which for me anyway made watching this one a lot less fun

They're trying to get you to pay for the app.

Ah. The FIA rulebook explains it:

"If an unsafe release occurs during the race, the driver will get a 10-place grid penalty for the next event but can also be penalised during the current event if he can continue racing after the incident."

So the 10 place penalty is automatic. The stop-go was the add on. Not the other way around.

10 places is harsh. Not sure how it is equivalent to the other 10 place penalties.

Holy crap.

Am I right to say that this has gone from a drive through last year to a 10 spot grid penalty and potential 10 sec stop/go? That's a massive hike in the penalty.

And I'm bummed I missed the Cumberbatch interview now.

As I said earlier, the FIA are big on this. The Massa, Alonso, and Surtees incidents all being within such close proximity to each other in 2009 led to them deciding to make it a big penalty.

They should lose constructers points and be fined. Completely unfair on drivers. I get that they are all part of the one team but still he like in Australia is being punished for something out of his control.

"Unsafe release" also applies to things like when you release the driver right in front of another car, giving the driver a penalty in those situations makes sense. Plus they want to reduce instances like loose tyres since the Massa, Alonso, and of course Surtees incidents a few years back.

No it doesn't, as the driver has no way of knowing where other cars are in the pit lane, they just go when the team says go
