Review AFL Round 3 autopsy - Collingwood defeated by Geelong by 11 points

The really fun part starts when you think Enright and Taylor Hunt will both be available next week - and almost certainly will come in - and in the not too distant future Smedts, Motlop and Christensen have to be shoehorned into the team. To say nothing of good performers in the VFL putting pressure on. Hate to be a selector.

What a crock. A poll on Channel 7 said Isaac Smith would beat Blicavs in a 2km time trail. Blitz would beat Smith by 200m.

Noticed a tweet from our old friend KissStephanie after the game too, basically saying Collingwood are a better side than Geelong, and it was only their injuries - both before and during the game, that cost them the win. I'm just waiting for her to come back on here and say Collingwood would've won if we had kicked straighter. ;)
You get stuck into her winty!! And give her one from me, too!!

All in all it is great to "bank" these wins early in the season, no matter how we earn them. I thought our mid field held up well against one of the best - congrats to Guthrie and GHS along with the usual mid field crew.

The one concern that stod out for me is the lack of mobility in the forward line. Too often i thought that the Pies defence were able to run the ball out of our forward line with what appeared (on the TV at least) minimal pressure. Therefore Varcoe and Murdoch are currently critical cogs in the team's structure.

Yeah Caddy was good in the first half but disappeared in the second. But he wasn't alone, a few players had up and down moments. He really does have to learn to use the ball instead of looking for tackles to beat so he can impress us - cost us a clear goal.

Having said that, no Enright, no Taylor Hunt, no Motlop, no Christensen - and still we won. I'll take that.

P.S. Selwood is a machine.

Also, no Pods, JHunt or Chapman, and we still win.

Mackie is not a lock down player - he is our first line of attack. Enjoy.

It doesn't matter who is standing Elliot when he takes mark of the year and two miss kicks land in his lap.

But yes .......hopefully one of sheringham, Bews or Thurlow will follow Guthrie and concentrate hard enough to lock down in future. Sheringham surprised me tonight.Seemed reasonably composed for so little experience.
I think Sheringham always looks composed- he's always very busy and scuttles along nicely. Wasn't afraid to put his head in there, either, so he'll be better for the run. Having said that- where's Jesse Stringer these days? Tearing it up in the VFL I hope!

The best possible problem to have

She's made one post on BF this year.

Certainly had no guts to show up after the 2011 GF.

I'm betting it contained about 10 paragraphs and was a steaming pile of crap too.

Why not, we are 3-0, and what is the difference between winning without Motlop, Christensen etc, and adding the three guys I mentioned as well?
Ah, just getting in first because of all the people complaining about how we shouldn't have dropped them and about how the Bombers are going to win the flag now they've got Chappy the Hero... etc. etc. Just my sense of humour- don't worry about me.Carry on ;)

Left field time boys.
Lonergan looks to have started this year even better than previous years yet IMO Taylor looks a 5th of a yard slower.
JK is smashing it in the VFL as a full back.
We have no-one able to take a mark and kick a goal to take some pressure off Hawkins.
JK in, Taylor to CHF?
Even if only for a week later in the year I wouldn't mind seeing it.

Remember to keep us in the loop please.
He was whinging in a tweet about bad kicking for goal.... I replied mentioning how on big footy he once said missing goals made a team better :D

If anyone else wants to join in the fun/read the dribble it's handle is @ and then KissStephanie.... I won't type it here because it will tag him and I can't be bothered reading 37 multi quoted walls of text in reply

There are 2 teams out there ya know.
It's more likely that we start as normal, opposition counter what we are doing and then we move around their counter.
Same as the "turn-overs kill us" argument, it goes both ways, turn-overs are the weakness of EVERY single team in the AFL, yet we are the best at securing and scoring from them.
I'm not sure if I prefer the fast start - slower paced finish to the slow start- fast blocks of 5 minute periods where we kick a few goals, then finish off hard.
Everyone complained that we were taking too long to get into the game but I think that we paced ourselves well in those days- just needed to work a bit harder at it to stop those 0 goals to 7 goals starts but it was working fine at the time apart from that.

Started with a brilliant kick from Murdoch, who found his kicking feet, IIRC :)
I'm glad because I was swearing at him when he just got it near the centre and bombed it straight to 2 pies players about a minute before!
