Preview No Changes vs Saints

If those guys are all fit to go I reckon CEY for Pets would be the only change. If he didnt wanna take the shot he still could've laid off a simple handball to Pods in the square.

Martin was average, CEY was the best thing about our game. 8 clearances, I reckon he is a shoe in
all I know is Martin may have been the first crow all year to react to a player getting hammered. Would almost like to see him in as a straight swap for Pets on those grounds alone. Might actually have an impact if he's allowed to play in the areas Petrenko is allowed to.

would love to see CEY come in too, but I'm not sure who I'd take out at this stage.

I actually think we need to lose the next couple for the long term good of the club.

Keep pets, JJ to FF, pods CHF pushing up the ground, thompson to play injured, porps in, martin in, shaw in

I see no reason why this wouldn't actually happen.

Geez with the way the Saints pushed the Eagles over the weekend, they should be starting strong favourites against us.

While we have won 4/5 past encounters, 4 of those were at AAMI and the one we lost was at the Dome.

There is something terribly wrong at West Lakes, yes we have played in our first three rounds 3 top 6 teams, but if we roll over this weekend, the blow torch will come down hard on Sando and the underperforming players. Our first 3 games have seen us in touching distance of these teams only to be steam rolled from about mid 3rd quarter onwards in 2 of them.

I rate Saints a lesser team then GWS and GCS simply because of the talent these two teams have, so to lose on Sunday would have us ranked as the second worst team in the comp. :(

We beat the Saints and Port lose to Brisbane and all of a sudden our season feels a lot better. That would have us 1 3 and Port 2 2. Not a huge difference.

Can't actually see Port losing. But it's possible without Wingard and Monfries.

try again...
Laird Hartigan CEY
Jaensch Talia Smith
Sloane Wright Douglas
Petrenko Jenkins Kerridge
Betts Podsiadly Dangerfield
Jacobs Grigg Crouch
Brown Mackay Mckernan Reilly(Sub)

2 prong forward line...Betts under Pods & Dangerfield as ff
make the opposition accountable for smashing into danger - could create scoring shots
Jenkins at CHF... allowing Jeansch & Smith to dob at goal on the fly by
Petrenko behind the ball...reading the outlets and smashing into the runners
Defensive communcation under the microscope...
Brown & Laird & CEY & Crouch rotating defensively on the ball
Grigg & Kerridge & Jeansch & Smith & Mackay rotating offensively on the ball
Dougie & Sloaney on the wings - use them to deliver it or hit the score board...
danger must kick at goal...
if in crisis mode - swing Danger on the ball

must win...
go you crows...

Petrenko will not play AFL for the Crows again. Correction, should not.
his one saving grace is his heavy tackling... i think this is most useful to limit the oppositions outside runners
his job should be to hunt and nail these runners...
montagna, ray etc - this week

At the moment I think that CEY in is really the only move that isn't just shuffling the deck chairs.

We played close to our strongest available team on the weekend and got hammered.
It's not the personel it's game plan and confidence.

I have always had a soft spot for Pets. I have seen him at SANFL look a level above everyone else. He is our best attacker of the man with the ball. His attack on the player is brutal. A trait we need in our team. He has the ability to win a game off his boot, like we saw against Norf last year. But he isnt consistant and doesnt get enough of the ball. He also tends to go to ground too easy.
But maybe he has had enough chances and his game last week was pathetic.

But maybe he has had enough chances and his game last week was pathetic.

If you look at how the stage of the game when he took that mark, had he gone back and kicked the goal, it would have been massive.

I would love to have our players miked up like in the cricket and ask them wtf were you thinking when you did what you did!

In the Showdown I just didnt see our players run into space or present themselves when a player ran down the wing, is this our gameplan or are our players just bloody lazy!

given our current injury list he is right in the mix...
bring back Lynch, Hendo, Tex, VB & Co and maybe he misses out.

Geez if you include Tex, Crouch, Otten and Lynch in the team we look so much stronger on paper. Hendo and VB are finished for 2014 no chance of being an influential player this season given the length of time they will be away.

Those four players listed above represent about 25% of our starting 18 players which is massive.

In fairness to Petrenko some of Dangers decision making has been just as bad. On top of the inexplicable pass off against Port, against Swans in Q2 he was 30 out, had turned his man and only had to run in and score - but elected to handball and the chance was eventually blown.

We're just horrible right now across the board

Have you seen our players when we turn over the ball? I would suggest it is laziness.

15 touches and 2 goals is winning the game off your own boot now? There's a difference between kicking the winning goal and winning the game off your own boot.

In 72 (and counting) AFL games, predominantly played as a forward, Pets has never kicked 4 goals in a game and has kicked 3 once. He's never shown the remotest ability to win a game off his own boot.

Yeah Sydney had injuries too, Tippett, Goodes, Bird, Reid and a defender whose name escapes me. Hawthorn have a number of guys out.

Good systems cope

Handball was the right option but he went the wrong one. Gave it to Eddie who had to turn with it under pressure - he had Wright running alongside him who could have walked into an open goal or, if he got closed down by a defender, given another handball over the top to Eddie who would've been by himself by that stage.
