I feel like I've stepped into an episode of "The Real Housewives of West Lakes"

Was at Fork In The Road today and didn't get to see the telecast. Our Foxtel IQ2 box hard drive failed Thursday night, so we lost the ability to record things. I have a set-top box for normal digital TV in the man-cave and had to learn to record with it today; a USB stick was stuck in it and I got half the match. Doesn't sound like it's worth watching.

Otto needs to get a kick first

Andy Otten was given a specific role to play Friday night. I think they played him in that position to make a direct judgement between him and Sam Shaw.

If he played in the midfield or as the lose man, you would be correct but since he was given a direct defensive assignment, possession count I don't feel was relevant.

Each to their own, I just don't think that was part of the criteria they were judging his game on this week.

But that then opens another can of worms about the integrity of the team and game. But that's a different discussion in a different thread.

I wasn't advocating bring Otten back. I'm a fan of Sam Shaw and think he's done ok.

If he is injured, then yes Otten is the next cab out of the rank.

The issue for otten is has he regained his touch rather than number of touches. Usually slow to come back from injury.

not about the number of touches, it was about his complete inability to defend against a journeyman SANFL forward.

fortunately I was there and hopefully so were many of the people making the selection decisions, because as much as I like Otten he isn't ready to come into the side.

Re otten in the reserves I think it comes down to whether or not he is clear best 22 returning from injury or actually fighting for a spot. If he's fighting for a spot then by all means judge him on ressies form. If he's best 22 getting match fit then who gives a **** if his form isn't great. He gets up to match fitness and plays. If tex played his 2 sanfl games and played terribly barely touching the pill would we make him earn his spot or bring him back when we feels he's match ready for afl. (Clearly tex and Otto are 2 different beasts with one being an absolute star player but I think the general point stands.) The key is that our selection panel need to have a clear answer to that question when it comes to every player on the list and I really don't think they do.

Reilly had "plenty of shanks and errors". Thats an awesome statement if you forget about the fact that he was 3rd most efficient user of the football on the ground with a DE of over 90%.

He was the 5th highest possession getter in our side with 21. He had the equal most kicks of an Adelaide Crow in a handball happy side. He had a total of 4 clangers in the game (2 of those were free kicks against) so basically 2 of his 15 kicks didn't hit the target (and both of these were under pressure on the HFF wing and didn't hurt us).

I just cannot see why he would need defending. Here is where he ranked amongst Crows. Equal 1st in marks, 2nd most contested marks, 2nd in Rebound 50's, Equal 6th in most tackles, Equal 6th in 1%ers, Top 3 in DE%, 5th most possessions.

Bits and pieces were worth watching but overall it was a pretty ugly game.

I was at Fork today too, but we went in early and left at 12:30 to be back for the start of the game.
