Carlton's list

Yarran has kicked 13 goals off a half-back flank.

Suckling has kicked 10 off half back (not getting the occasional game up forward) and we didn't cough up a first rounder. Pick #81 in the rookie draft. Plus he's a far superior player. He's could be doing more but he just isn't.

Also the Thomas of Collingwood is on a different level to Thomas now. His ankle is stuffed and he's just a paycheque player now.

The playing list needs a major overhaul, no doubts about that. This group of senior players has bombed as a collective, failing to make the top 4. Our 23rd premiership looks years away but there are examples of clubs turning it around.

I'd be keen to take Bell of their hands.
And then there are people who have actually coached and played the game.

They know more than the fat kid who never got picked or the housewife in her new skarf.
Pretty sure everyone on here loves their footy and isn't just an occasional viewer.

Kreuzer should have been traded to Adelaide 2-3 years ago and Sauce Jacobs kept...just add it to the list of ongoing Carlton errors.

sorry can not agree with this ... kreuzer has had no luck with injuries

personally i would have liked jacobs & kreuzer as our rucks

and would have let hopeless hampson and witches hat warnock go

They haven't a clue at that poor excuse of a club..

kkkkkkkk.jpg

some people have short memories ... your club did not win a premiership for 40 years and choked in a number of GF

things can turn

Carlton are rebuilding their team. Both on and off the field.

Carlton were aggressive last year come trade time and did really well from it and I think they will go about it in a similar fashion.

Carlton has no need to retire players yet. Waite will probably have to play on despite being past it. Simpson is playing fine. Carrazzo and Judd can retire on their own accord. We will have enough delistings to go with Duigan, Scotland and Bootsma who have already gone so a big cull isn't really called for.

Finding players with trade value who Carlton can afford to lose will be the trick. I think one of the ruckmen (Kreuzer or Warnock) will go as Carlton's list is again in a good position to trade a ruckman out. Wood is playing well in the VFL on the rookie list and could fill a void. Finding a taker is the trick. You never know what you may get for Robinson, Mclean or perhaps even one of the older players to a premier contender. Lucas, Garlett and Watson may attract some interest.

Under no circumstances will Carlton look to trade out someone like Gibbs, this would be a pointless backwards step.

At this stage players like Cripps, Buckley, Graham, Menzel and possibly a few others like Johnson and Giles will be weaned into senior footy over the next few seasons.

Carlton have suffered from injuries and the poor fitness of players such as Buckley, Henderson, Judd, Bell, Kreuzer, Curnow, Waite, Tuohy, Carrazzo, White, Ellard and on the weekend Murphy. Even Cripps who has had a broken leg would have likely been a handy inclusion at times. Poor teams generally struggle with key players out or underdone far worse than the better sides.

The blues will be looking to use the draft a fair bit. They aren't in a position for a quick fix and they know it.

Expecting Carlton will be a fairly young and different outfit in three years time, expecting that half the best 22 will be different to what it is now.

Despite some recent success a few years ago Carlton is still a club playing catchup from it's dark days when it was broke, badly in debt, poorly run and poorly facilitated and heavily penalized from the AFL over salary cap breaches. The club is really only now getting things right with it's football staff, recruiting team, coaching team and training facilities.

The team is going to get worse for a while but it appears they are going about things the right way though there is a lot of work to do to get the team up to a level where it is a competitive finals outfit.

I can't name one A-grader on Carlton's list. Judd is past it, Murphy is B-grader and Gibbs probably B-grader as well if that...

We all like to bag Carlton but come on! Murphy is definitely A grade and Gibbs is very close to it at least! Not their fault they are carrying midfielders like McKLean for example.

The may look A-Grade to some because they are playing in a below par midfield. Neither would be in the top 20 midfielders in the competition.

But, that's not what decides if a player is A-grade or not.

If you aren't best 20 midfielders than I would consider you not to be an A-Grader.

Murphy is somewhere in 20-29 mark.

Gibbs would be probably 30-39 somewhere.

Then your ratings of players is off.

Clubs rate their lists on who is A,B,C grade. They don't give a toss who is considered to be top 20 in the comp.
