Would be very disappointed if we trade Garlett. Prior to this year, he's been very solid for us. He had 27 goals to round 10 last year and was right in contention for AA spot before falling away. Still kicked a more than handy 43 goals for the year. 29 the year before that. 48 goals. 39 goals.

After his season to date, we're not going to get fair value for a bloke who's proven he's a consistent 40 goal a year player. We know he has personal issues and as a club I'm hoping we're doing our best to help him through them rather than look to move him on at what's been the first bump in the road in his career to date.

I'd be surprised should Garlett remain.
Malthouse wants players he can rely on...........that will put in week in, week out and not those that can be influenced for outside circumstances.
I can't say I blame him.

Why would he even be raising Sheehan as a likely inclusion some time this year.
The guy hasn't got all tools required yet but he does have commitment and discipline. Great starting points.

I just hope he isn't replaced with a Marcus Davies like foot soldier.

If we can get a fair deal Garlett is a player we should be trading as he has proven to be a 40 goal a year player and actually has value unlike Alot of hypothetical I see around here.

He also can't really run through the midfield and that could work against him staying.

I'm happy for him to stay but if we can get a good offer I wouldn't be sad to see him go.

He plays at Port Melbourne now.

I got shitty watching him collect a nice contested ball on the half back flank, dodge some tackles run up the wing and kick it to Franghanistan's FB.

At least he hit him on the chest.

The interview sounded like MM running out of patience with players letting him down with skill errors. Probably still hasn't forgiven Waite for missing from 10m against Tigers in round 2. Hendo's miss on Saturday was nearly as bad.

What do you think a fair deal would be?
This is hard to gauge given the strength (allegedly) of this draft compared to others as well as our position.

If Hampson, Doc, everitt are all worth around pick 30, McEvoy pick 18 or so. I would say closer to the pick 20 mark.

Late first/early second obviously the later the pick it could involve a swap of picks or a player we are interested in.

I don't post trade hypotheticals as I'm no good at it.

Exactly Malthouse f*ed off Leon Davis from Collingwood who to be fair was a much better footballer than Jeffy but just couldn't be counted on in finals.

I agree ItsAllAboutMe re Garletts value.
Unfortunately picks 20ish-30 will be clubs in the same area as us that may want to go to the draft. Most likely it could be an Adelaide with a high 20's pick or then again a Hawthorn/Freo with a pick closer to 35-40.
West Coast might be a chance and I would think their 2nd pick maybe around 25-30.
I would be more than happy with a mid 2nd round pick, but would ideally love to move up the draft with a scenario like:
Garlett and our 3rd (39ish) for Freo/Hawks first (18?)
or Garlett and our 3rd (39) for West Coasts 2nd (28?)
Much prefer the Freo/Hawks trade but it might be a stretch.

Also, those draft pick numbers are just guesses as I am at work and shouldn't be on here. Hence no time! ;)

Adelaide will take Waite as he is a Carlton player. End of story. And they'll think it will make them premiership favourites. Consolation for missing out on Gibbs.

Should room with AJ. Dinner conversations would be interesting.
