Trade hypotheticals

No. Quantity isn't our focus anymore: we already did that in 2012 with the pick 12 & 13 trades and to a lesser extent last year with trades for players. We will only trade down with GWS if we get their 1st in the deal and are sure of getting McCartin with that pick.

you are splitting pick 1 for a former pick 2 and 12 + pick 20 in this years draft.

Maybe if GWS get a lower first round pick they could swap those two players plus that 1st round pick for the first. I dont think you guys are over the quantity bump.

Depends though. If Carlton have conclusively said he'll be traded then have lost a fair bit of leverage. Clubs will know they only have to wait until the end of the trade period and he'll eventually be delisted.

That said when he's floated all trade period and no one gives anything for him I can see Mick and the blues saying he was only up for trade and now we are stuck with him we've offered him a one year deal.

I think he will stay on a junk contract.

Where they were drafted is irrelevant. Is jack watts still worth pick one? JOR could end up being another gumbleton.

Jack Watts has proven he is a dud as has gumby..Orourke and jacskh were both in a the 2012 draft.

Using your logic McCarthy could be a dud....
Gumby didn't prove he was a dud, he just proved that he was a highly rated junior who got smashed by injuries, very similar to JOR

It's not totally irrelevant when it was only a couple of years ago.
But it's not as relevant as everyone is making it out to be. GWS took jacksh at 12 but for all we know the saints could've rated him in the 40's.

Except the club has stated it need quality now and our last trade period was heavy on quality - we used only 3 top 20 picks in the draft.

As I said I really can't see us trading pick one unless if we get McCartin or maybe Wright as part of the deal.

It is very hard to get a good valuation on Jaksch and JOR, but they clearly aren't going to fetch the same price that they were drafted at. JOR has real injury worries and has shown very little in the games he has played and Jaksch hasn't played much, has shown something but has told the club he is leaving. Something like 1 for 3, Jaksch and JOR would be what we would be after at the least. Jaksch is the more sure thing that fills a need for us and JOR is a high risk, high reward pick.

If GWS end up with pick 4 due to Frawley compo then we will need even more to make it worth the risk of us missing out on McCartin.

With today's scuttlebutt suggesting Frost to Melbourne, I am wondering what GWS fans think he is worth. All picks/players are apparently on the table, so go nuts! With your apparent focus on brining in mature players to compliment your youngsters, would any of our players interest you or would he be more likely to be included in a deal for one of our picks?

Sam Reid + Tom Mitchell for Melbourne's Pick 2.

Melbourne get 2 quality players who are roughly worth picks around 10-20 and still have their compo Pick 3. Reid, Mitchell and Brayshaw and Stretch is a very good start to a list turnover.

Sydney get Reid + Mitchell's contracts out of their books and draft Peter Wright with Pick 2 who could be a star forward, ruck or both. Wright and Heeney not bad (geez:eek:) for the maybe Premiers.

I would rather keep mitchell and reid. Both contracted anyway.

I think we need to nip this JOR injury crisis in the bud.

Do you experts know what his major injury has been since he's been with us??

It was a broken jaw after a collision.

He did not break that jaw from repetitive strain or wear and tear.

This year he did do a hammy which he had a problem with when he was a junior but he is hardly in the Gumby category!!

Fair enough if you want to say General Patton is an injury risk but O'Rourke's query is reaching, particularly as the Big Footy surgeons seem to have marked his papers as a tampon even before the dumbos have properly researched his time with us.

As much as id like to see North target a Lever/Goddard/Marchbank with our 1st i wouldnt be against looking at JOR and backing Steve Saunders.

Norths 1st
for
JOR and GWS 3rd
?

I'm very interested to see what the giants get for O'Rourke. Given most clubs didn't rate him anywhere near top 2, I think the giants are going to be disappointed.

Sorry, thought I was in trade hypotheticals not the Swans board... my mistake.

Well as you said 'For swans' and being a swans supporter I thought it would be natural to reply.

Highly unlikely we will want a HBF as we have a few that can fill that role both in our side and in ressies. Suckling and first foritchell and second doesn't appeal as we would likely get better offers elsewhere

Cheers , makes more sense now.

What do people think of :-

Leuenberger & pick 9 >> Syd
Mitchell & pick 4 >> Collingwood
Beams & Sam Reid >> Brisbane

As a Brisbane supporter I am not overly happy with what we are giving up there, but at the same time, that is generally a good sign that it is an agreeable deal for the other team/s.

Can't see the pies giving up beams and Reid. But have seen worse trade hypotheticals

We have to give up beams for pick 4, and we also have to give up pick 9 for Mitchell?....
