Ok because I respect you rfctiger74 I will confirm im talking about shiel. Now this may not come off as you of all people know shit changes with the wind but I am a lot more confident that A - Shiel is open to move to melbourne this year and not wait till next year. Its common knowledge he rejected a contract extension this year, so has WHE btw :p B- Knowing this, we are being proactive in asking the question. obviously we have some connections to Shiel but we would have to create a win/win for both GWS and us.

Thats all i can really say at this stage :p

you don't respect me you pig, you called me a friggin hipster yesterday!!!:mad::mad::p

All that makes sense, and happy to hear. Only concern I have is if a have enough on the trade table to make it happen

Im confident we do, you ****en hipsters are always so negative :P

And this is exactly why we haven't taken the next step. Our starting 18 is solid, however after that it falls away rather quickly as pointed out by our 'tradeable value'.
That's what I thought up until Sunday
All week I was worried about our bottom 4 ,but we have bigger issues than bottom 4
You cannot get blown away in less than ten minutes of footy and blame four blokes

The good thing though is only two years we were struggling to fill a starting 22. I remember some games were it was almost an argument over which liability was the lesser in our team.

It's progress that we are starting to get some competition for spots in some areas. Still got a long way to go, but we are a long way from Hyde IN, Tivendale OUT

I actually liked Tivendale.

Oh I hear you mate, definitely not blaming 4 blokes. I just legitimately think we were absolutely exhausted and it was one of those days that absolutely nothing went right.

Our core group of our starting 18 is fantastic and a heap of our blokes under 23 are solid but for whatever reason, we don't seem to have a heap of depth- depth that I thought we had an abundance of earlier this year.

Just to balance this. I have knocked Morris early this year due to his over commitment to the ball which leaves his man free. On his first year with us, he was outstanding. If memory serves he conceded less goals then any other small defender in the league that year. So he has footy smarts and skill. The issue I strongly believe is that due to our lack of pace, Dimma tried to change Morris from a aggressive negating backman to a offensive weapon. It was a ******* disaster. Morris is one of those footballers that when he releases the ball without though just instinct, he is quite tidy. Just look at his first year, but trying to make him a play maker from the back half forces him to think of where to give the ball off and then the yips start.

Secondly he played all year with shoulder needing a re construction. That to me puts a lot into perspective of why his tackles were not sticking this year. Also it makes me admire him even more so his commitment when he charged hartlett when the game was already lost and went the bump with his shoulder because he knew he could not tackle with his bad shoulder. Not enough has been made about how a shocking decision it was for him to play and not put him to surgery from rnd 3.

I know I shot off a email to the club, offering my disgust in the lack of player welfare shown. I could not give a rats ass if the excuse was he could still play..the kid could not stick a tackle due to his injury.

I will back Morris for next year to lift back to his last years form.

I think this is a fair call. He was good in his first year. This season was definitely not his best, and I'm willing to cop that he played injured. But if that's the case, he shouldn't have been playing at all and someone else should have been given a go (Dea, for example). We could have definitely afforded for him to not be playing, as he's not a critical player to our structure (like Rance) and plus we have Houli as a small running defender. I tend to agree with bigange. He is quite a one dimensional player and there aren't a whole lot of other facets to his game besides being "hard at it". His game style is easy to exploit and we definitely saw how better players were able to expose him this year (Rioli, vs Hawthorn). More to the point, it frustrates me how Dimma will always defend him with the same song and dance every time: "He's hard at it", "He has no regard for his body", "He puts his head over the ball". Whenever he says this, you'd think that this is the maximum requirement of players at the elite level, which is plainly not true (sorry to state the bleeding obvious, but there it is) and I feel like it insults our intelligence as paying members. Also, contrary to popular belief, when it all comes down to it, morris's game style isn't really that effective at all. Any hack can throw themselves at a contest, but it's harder to actually get a result from doing so and create an advantage for your team. For example, the contest in the forward line with Hamish Hartlett vs port on the weekend: He just flew in blindly and bumped the guy. Wouldn't it have been better to actually work on restraining/containing the guy and stopping what later turned into a goal? I guess that comes back to your point about him not being able to hold a tackled due to injury, but again, if he's injured, he shouldn't be playing.

As always, I'm open to be proven wrong in the future. I hope he gets the surgery he needs (hopefully this has already happened) and that he has a good rehabilitation to prepare him for a solid preseason and hopefully a far better season than the one just gone.

I just think that Port are a better side than us which is sad considering they weren't 2 years ago. It's a shame because we have the talent there. Sunday was Tommy Hafey day all over again. Players and Coaching staff should be shot for that performance.

Rusty mate, I get that the game really shook your confidence in the club. I advise you to read the below link, it will turn that frown upside down, when you realise it could have been worse.

And everything went right for port ie every play, bounce, kick for goal etc. Goog luck for them bad luck for us.

Considering the gave up pick 9 and he was already a top 3 pick is peanuts IMO.
I know there was a swap but to get the pick of the draft bar 2 then they get to choose exactly what they need/want. Not peanuts imo. Would we do it, knowing we had a player most likely to leave anyway the next year?

They already had a top 3 guy though. And gave that and a top 10 pick to get another top 3 guy. If he was out of contract then fair enough. They did the right thing to trade him before he came out of contract but IMO they traded him for unders anyway. May as well have hung onto him and convinced him to stay. They could have got a similar deal this year anyway :p

GWS traded Tyson and pick 9 for picks 2 & 22, with a bit of swapping of later picks as well.

Given Tyson had tried to leave the year before and would probably try again, that's pretty close to a win-win in my eyes.

Now, who are we getting? Dangerfield or Shiel? Or both?

How old's Dempsey? He's exactly the type we need at half-back.

Its common knowledge he rejected a contract extension this year, so has WHE btw :P
So you're saying Shiel this year and WHE next. I'll hold you personally responsible if both aren't on our list come the end of 2015 ;-)

I'm a big wrap for Morris. Those that bag him need to think back pre Morris and remember how often we would get owned by small forwards, even the crap ones.

I just hope we don't get into 2015 and hear that Morris is underdone because he didn't have a full pre-season because of his shoulder surgery.

Are you thinking I'm going off that game . Please ?????? And you have to have confidence to shake. I think I've been pretty consistent the entire year pointing out our deficiencies .

Is that link a door way to more excuses?

I am happy to put tigs2010 tiny little balls on the line and say this. I am 100% convinced that Shiel will be a tiger by no later then the 2016 season. I am getting more confident we can do it this year but i always expected next year. As to WHE, he wants out of blacktown. So who knows what may happen.
