When are supporters going to admit to the true value of Sidebottom? He is a 2 sided player and far more reliable with his disposal by foot than the majority of players on our list.

He's a valuable player for sure. But m

Yeah he is a valuable player. It was tongue in cheek.

Having said that, it shows just how poor we are with our disposal efficiency. And goal efficiency.

We're practically the worst team in the league for using the ball. That's disgraceful..

I have no idea how that relates to my post to be honest.
I'll take a wild guess and say it's because you've tried to turn almost every thread on this board into a 'how great were the good old days/our previous players were all guns/Buckley is no good'.

It wears thin and deserves a sarcastic retort towards you, as happened here. There's a mega thread for all things Bucks that you could post in.

'cept I never said any of that at all.
We had a great list and we blew it. Beams is part of the fallout and a manifestation of the problem. Far from the good old days this is actulaly true to type for our club over the last half centurty.
I've said little on Buckley other than the mistake of bringing in Leading Teams.

I think you just don't like negative views on the club. You are not alone.

Scott Clayton (Suns recruiter) on trade radio this morning. Says, he's spoken to Beams' manager, not Beams. Says it appear he wants Brisbane so it's a deal between them & Collingwood, but we'll moniter that one. Admits to chasing Mitch Hallahan (big bodied mid from Hawthorn VFL) and has discussed Robinson from carlton (big bodied dud mid). He's loking for a big bodied mid. Beams big bodied gun mid.

On the flip side when asked about being able to afford both Malceski & Beams in salary terms, he said "it'd be difficult". That said, if their trade offer was superior, we'd offer to pay some salary to clinch the deal.

In no way, are the Suns out of the race for Beams. Back to you Brisbane.
Clayton is playing this smart. He knows that the Brions desperately want Beams. By expressing his interest, but saying they are going to sit back and let the Lions deal go through, he eases the pressure on the Lions to offer up a big trade.
If the Lions then, in their smugness, offer a trade that just pisses off Hine and co, he can step in and offer up something juicy.
End result, pies are pissed off and don't want to deal with Brisbane anymore and endeavor to get a deal done with GC, even if it means paying some of his contract.

It's exactly the way I'd play it, and gives the Suns the highest chance of actually snaring Beams imo.

Wow. That's drawing a fairly long bow I reckon. It's pretty clear all GC are doing is making it known that they will look at Beams if it all falls flat. It's a fairly far bridge to think it's some kind of sneaky plot. What's more, it won't happen.

Or because Dad lives in QLD and doesn't want to move to Melbourne.
Come on mate- that post doesn't suit the pessimistic narrative.

Frawley has rejected the Cats- they are obviously dealing with major cultural issues and apparently in crisis as a result. Otherwise he would have chosen them. I mean even his best mate Rivers couldn't get him there- that is how bad their culture is.

Only a guy that has played 15 games in the last few years and has a mental illness goes to them. What is going on down there? It is between us and them for the wooden spoon next year.

It's not really a long bow at all. Clayton would know the chances of Dayne ending up a Sun are slim. Going in all guns blazing would be great from our perspective, as it would drive up Daynes trade value, but it's a lousy strategy from a negotiators point of view.

This way Clayton is publicly showing his interest to the pies, but not being dragged into a bidding war. If Brisbane f$&k up, then it's time to pounce.
It may not work, particularly if the Brions come up with a fair trade, but given that Beams has nominated the Lions, this is really the smartest way for GC to go about this without having to sacrifice ridiculous currency at the trade table if it comes to the point where the pies/lions negotiations reach breaking point.

You may be right but that's a long way off the way I'm reading it. Who knows?

So Frawley has joined the Hawks.

If the reported offers were true, 450k for 4 years, is that band 2 compensation?

Staggering $$ discrepancy Vr's the $$'s and length of contract on offer by Freo and to a lesser extent Geelong.

The Hawks continue to gain top end talent due to recent success even though Frawley would be a million dollars plus better of choosing Freo or Geelong.

I guess the guy has chosen to earn less, stay closer to family and improve his chances of becoming a premiership player by nominating the Hawks.

You probably can't really compare a Freo offer directly to a Hawthorn offer given the locations. As far as potentuial success goes I am not sure there is much difference between the 3. Hawks are closer to the end of their "window" given the ages of some of their players and Frawley would make more difference to the other 2. Whatever has driven his choice, you can't blame him for leaving Melbourne. The whole issue of him being unrestricted is an intersting one though. Melbourne front loaded him and it is his 2014 salary that pushes him to that status not his service so his loss has as much to do with salary cap stratergies and csp floors as it does anything else. In normal salary circumstances they could actually match Hawthorn's offer and keep him. That said, if they got pick 3 they'd probably be better off letting him walk. I wonder though if it ends up at band 2 whether the prospect of Melbourne matching the offer might have raised the bar and therefore the compo.

Apparently O'Rourke can kick, a unique trait which would make him instantly our best player.
Unfortunately he won't be able to gel with the majority of our team then. Either that or within a year or two in our system, he will be spraying them all over the place.

Dayne Beams has declined an invitation to attend Collingwood's Copeland Trophy this evening, despite in the running to take home his second club best and fairest.

Travis Cloke described it as

"very disappointing, he's still a Collingwood player and he's contracted for next year, we understand his position, but as his mates and teammates we wish he was here to see off the season."
From the AFL Draft, Trade, Free Agency, List & General News Facebook Page.

Really disappointing of Dayne if true.

Beams had refused to attend the Copeland.
Clearly there is some bad blood there.
Let's drop the sick father excuse now.

Hi guys, just wanted to ask the quetion of how you would feel about pick 4 and either our second rounder or a rohan bewick.
I think It would be awesome if we traded you guys pick 4 and our second rounder and you could on trade that to North for greenwood. You would get a good player and mature body in the middle, plus a player like Bradshaw or ahern?
That be a fair outcome?
