Good chance my Dad played with some of his relatives then. Dad played at Sandgate back in the day. Few months back i was talking to him about the academy and listed off some of the names and there were a good 3 or 4 last names that were familiar to him. I'll have to chase him up on it more. Said all the Wagner's were fairly hard nuts back in his day.

Really? Was my junior club. I still remember being coached by Alex Jesaulenko for 10 minutes at training one night. Highlight of my admittedly pathetic footy career.

Yeah, he would have been there from probably late 70's thru to late 80's. The scary thing is the amount of strangers that ask me if i'm his son, because they say i look like him. Then they say they use to play with him back at Sandgate and remember me running around the change rooms as a lil tacker. That was like 25+ years ago !

Know Coreys dad Scott well he will be on the right track

Matt Hammelmen a big omission from the Academy nominations, for those who don't know we've nominated Liam Dawson & Harris Andrews as well as Josh Clayton as a father/son. Is there any chance we could still land Hammelmen?

The following players have been nominated under the provisions of the Club Academy Player Rookie Pre-Selection Rule.

Brisbane Lions: Darcy Cameron-Reeves (Morningside), Matthew Hammelmann (Morningside), Daniel Henderson (Maroochydore), William Kristelly (Maroochydore), Cameron Stevenson (Aspley), Matthew Ubergang (Western Magpies).

Is my math wrong or how can we fit them all onto our rookie list.

If we go the 38 + 6 list arrangement, plus three Cat Bs, that'd give us seven senior spots to fill and five rookie spots to fill. Upgrade Bourke, for example, and now we've got six senior spots (three nominated, Beams, plus two others) and six rookie spots that can be filled with those six.

There was a Nick Weller running around in schoolboy rugby this year. Same guy?

If it is, a quick search shows he's a handy hurdler as well. Sounds like it could be a rookie search program thing.

Edit: Does Keays go to Terrace? If so, it's the same school as Weller

Man...Can't wait for us to secure Keays. :D

It will be interesting to see how this year goes for him. One would expect
more time in middle very much like Petracca. Not saying he is that level. Very likely the club might have to use a second round pick

Without seeing too much of Keays so far, what sort of qualities does he have? unfortuantley I get to see just about everyone bar the Queensland crop. Queensland playing a few games in the TAC Cup next year???
I'm not across things like others here but from my limited understanding he currently plays as a HFF with stints in the middle, left footer but can get under it a bit when kicking longer. Good hands over head and reads it fairly well. Reminds me a little bit of Ryan O'Keefe. Would also like to hear other's views of him and curious as to his height and size.
