Hey Cotter how come you didn't rate Hammelman as highly as others did? What's his weaknesses?

He is good athletically and has a nice marking game but he never stood out to me as being anything more than a late pick/rookie pick. I haven't seen him as much as Quigley and a couple of others have. But he lacked aggression, co-ordination and I thought his kicking skills were poor(only really seen him in two games). Turned it over too much for mine in the two times I saw him. Seen him both as a defender and forward.

With that said he has shown he has some potential. I've never said he didn't. Just never believed he was worth more than a 3rd round pick. Worthy of a rookie spot for sure.

If we rule Beams out I hope our club looks at possibly trades to ensure we get Wright or McCartin.

I don't really see what we can offer to move up in the draft order to be honest. We might even be happy to look at the Lever (sp?) fellow now that we have lost Patfull however. Especially if we see Andrews as a possible forward in the long run.

Not going to lie. Using pick 5 and 25 would be pretty exciting. We could pick a few high quality players with those picks IMO.

If it happens I'm fine with it. McCartin preferably, fills a need and completes the buddy triumvirate with Dizzy and Squizzy; if not Wright or Laverde at 5 and maybe Cockatoo at 25.

Definately Cockatoo at pick 25 that would be a great steal and would be awesome to get McCartin at 5 but with Melbourne having pick 2 and 3 i reckon they will go for Brayshaw and either McCartin or Wright

More than likely. In terms of the draft for key forwards for us it will probably fall on who Melbourne likes. GWS don't need any more tall forwards, Saints need one but couldn't pass on Petracca and the Dees will be free to take who they prefer. They lost Clark so Wright may appeal on the other hand Hogan leading up and McCartin in the 50 sounds like a decent combo. Would have to wait and see if we have draft picks. Would certainly be interesting how it falls.

If we still have pick 5 I'd be happy to draft Weller (if we can't get McCartin) Lots of talent and very little go home factor.
Just because he is a Queenslander doesn't mean he will never want to leave.

Id be keen on Lever if it comes to that.

I'd be happy with Lever or even Durdin. But it would be great to get Mccartin. Melb may go Wright and Brayshaw. Wright a better fit with Hogan and Dawes. Hopefully GWS go for one of the key backs Lever or Durdin, who with Patfull there will have a few years to develop. If that's the case then we could snag Mccartin. :D

Also he's Tasmanian.

I think he (Weller) might be a stretch at 5. Laverde sounds like the kind of player our recruiters like, tall mid/utility. I am cool with that but as long as they feel he will develop into a genuine mid. Wouldn't be disappointed with either though.

With pick 25 there is no doubt Cockatoo looks like he has all the tools. Will he be there though?

Other players I'd look at around this range are Menadue, Blakely, Neal-Bullen and Bampton. Menadue looks like some x-factor which we are lacking but I still feel we need a a guy who can play inside mid even greater. I think the latter 3 could play round 1.

I think Lever is the only KPP that might be comparable to McCartin/Wright -- had he had clear run without injury.

Lachie Henderson had a similar draft year, missing most of it.

Looks like the value pick to me.

We seem interested in Blakely - Link

The midfielder's ability to win the ball around stoppages is understood to have attracted the interest of Collingwood, Geelong and the Brisbane Lions.
