Mullet, Garner and Atley to provide our pace.

Was just about to post the same thing. Perhaps (and it's just a theory) the club has identified that a) we've got a few old blokes in defence and b) we've got a few future midfielders / wingers down there (McDonald, Atley, Mullett) and we can build our midfield by drafting replacements

My issue is that these guys are unlikely to impact in 2015 and we need to improve by at least 15% overall to maintain our position. I just don't see the rationale when we have spent several drafts picking up plodding inside mids and have been lucky to get Mullett and Turner as rookies to supplement pace. If we lose one of Atley, Harvey (36), Wells (30) or Mc Donald we will get smashed on the rebound and a land of the giants in defence won't stop the scores.

Not even remotely exciting, but a necessary draft. Drafting key backs is a bit like drafting offensive linesmen in the NFL: boring as all ****, but crucial for sustained success.

Well, these boys can spend the next two years learning their craft in the VFL and stacking on the kegs.

Not really - Hanson 26, Thompson 28, Tippett 26. Grima and Spud have age. 1 maybe 2 but 3????

Well, it can take a few years for KPP to develop, so if you say these players move into the side in 2-3 years then:
Grima would be 31-32
Thompson would be 30-31
Firrito 33-34

Hansen would be 28-29 so he would be around and Thommo would be near the end. Tippett might be around but who knows, I hope he comes good but is a bit of an unknown still.

Pretty clear that Leigh Tudor has had a big say in this which is obviously a good thing. Also expecting to see Atley and Mcdonald push into the midfield a lot more next year now. Very happy with the first two picks, not so much our third..

We needed Key Defenders badly!
Good draft, we will all look back on this and think wow now we can add quality and quicker players when needed.
We have pace, we do.
Atley, Mullett and Harper to fire next year.

Along with our older contingent.

Don't forget we will need to replace wells and harvey soon enough, when we do, ready made replacements will be drafted in and ready to go and our new Defenders will be ready at the same time.
