I love the idea of getting danger for nothing but cap space.

As long as we don't pay him so much we lose other players down the track.

Paying danger 1.25 mil probably isn't the best money ball approach, long term teams that don't splash the big bucks on stars and develop their own players while adding decent contributors on sensible money could come out better off.

Right now I don't see what we could offer that 5-6 other victorian teams can't.

Can Geelong honestly afford to sign Danger (for assuming the 700 plus K p/a wages he will command) especially as they will have to re-sign several key players, like Motlop and Hawkins for big money (you would assume)

Anyhow this part of Free Agency is a blight on the game, the will he or won't he stay innuendo that will drag on ad nauseam throughout the season.

I don't think it is healthy for Adelaide's morale and playing list and fanbase to spend the off-season and most of next season worrying if Danger will bail.

Get Danger!!! Let him play 70% forward and 30% mid.
His body has taken a beating over the years, but imagine he and Menzel in our forward 50.

Judd, Carrotts, Warnock, Ellard, Armfield won't be on our list come 2016.
I also get the feeling if players like White, Watson and even Casboult (if Jones kills it) may be up for trade if they aren't in the team consistantly.

Who knows what happens with Kruezer next year. My gut says he'll stay, but if he does go, expect us to chase Danger hard unless we finish in the bottom 4 and we get a nice compo for him...

As much as I would love to see Danger in the navy blue. I think Sheil is better fit for the club from an age and list mangement prepective he would probably cost a fair bit less too. I'm thinking anywhere between 600k-800k. Connection with SOS can't hurt and his best footy is definetly in front of him.

What would you give up in a trade?

He cost us at least our first rounder maybe our second as well depending on where we finish. If we have a bad year picks 1-4 should be close. We have a good year picks 10-17 we'd really need him to nominate us as his preferred club and still throw in something else good in to get it done.

My concern is the something else good part. We would need Warnock to have good year or Casboult/Watson to have a good year but Jones and Henderson to be above them in the pecking order. An in form tall if we have a few would be good currency with a 10-15 draft pick.

Yeah there's a lot of other things that could come into play.
- how the 2015 draft shapes up and which picks we have.
-how other players on our list perform in terms of trade and list needs.
-how good a year Shiel's has
-if a better prospect should arise by the end of next year.

Lolz!

Jesus Christ I hope Danger signs with Adelaide soon. I can't handle a whole friggin season of speculation. It's beyond tiresome.
Carlton's goal is to build the list with youth, rather than a quick fix. Trading a first & second rounder would be doing the complete opposite

I'd rather get danger for 1 mil than pay 500-600k + our first round pick (for starters) for shiel or treloar

Carlton won't give up a first rounder.

We did this year. I would only be a fan of getting a Shiel if it doesn't involve selling the farm. Like this year we traded our first pick but I think it was the right call form a list management point of view. Would be great if we could some how mange to do something similar to this year where we bring in top end talent but still some how mange to stay in the the late first round of draft and let our recruiting team earn there pay.
