I find it more hard to believe that big dollars would be being offered considering how clouded his playing future is with his injuries. Would reckon any offer would very much be a wait and see kind of situation.

If he was unhappy though ... makes you wonder what a Kreuzer trade could have done last trade period. Kreuzer and #7 would have got Boyd and maybe Jaksch thrown in.

I'm not buying it.
Nothing against you, ms3. I just can't imagine Krooz being so petulant, especially when he refused big big $ to move clubs.

Completely agree.
Plus Kreuzer needs to learn how to play forward.
He cannot simply ruck for an entire game.

He cannot simply ruck for an entire game.

There's a distinction here. A first ruck who rests up forward or a first ruck played as a key forward who relieves in the ruck when the other bloke is tired.

He's not necessarily the best tap ruck but he's decent and he is head and shoulders above the others around the ground, at the stoppages, on the ground, and with tackling and work rate. Playing on a dedicated key defender for more than half a game is NOT what Kreuzer should be doing.

Stop trying to turn him into Tippett.

No way would GWS have done Kruz and #7 for Boyd and KJ

It's conjecture. They did Griffen and #6 for Boyd. Griffen is late 20s. Kreuzer is younger and a ruckman. GWS have thrown big wads of money at Kreuzer previously. Yes, he doesn't have the runs on the board that Griffen has but his position might draw a premium, just as Boyd has on the back of 1 average season to date.

I would suggest the most ideal way to get the best out of Kreuzer would be to play him in the ruck for approx. 75% of the game, and rest him forward for the remainder and let Cas be that second ruck.

We've all seen it with our own eyes that at his best he is the No.1 ruck - that rests forward.

I don't see why we're trying to change this.

Absolutely. Let him do what he does best in the ruck, then let him be an impact player up forward. Playing him forward to much makes him easy to predict and handle.

SOS basically quite the giants not long after they traded Boyd. I think it's pretty clear that he wasn't thrilled with what they did over the trade period.

I doubt very much that SOS quit GWS because he didn't like what they did over the trade period. He was front and centre during the trade period. It was his job.

He came to Carlton because those that might make it uncomfortable back there have moved on, he is friends with the president and there was a clear role for him there. There is also the prospect that one of his sons could end up playing back in Melbourne and his family would be split up between Melbourne and Sydney. His wife is still working with Women of Carlton and fundamentally they are Carlton people.

The Kinights had it perfect when he was still playing U18 footy.
Rested him forward for short periods of the game, and he rucked the rest of the game by himself.

Why change something that is clearly working!?

Still discussing Tom Boyd on the carlton board?

get over it.

Talk Dylan Shiel or anybody else if you like. Boyd isn't the issue. The issue is that if Kreuzer or any player with currency is unhappy and a chance to walk as a free agent, you look at earlier trade options to maximise their value. It's just a hypothetical situation.

Totally agree with ODN, Kreuz is a ruckman, end of story, if he goes forward it is to rest in a pocket with Hendo and Jones taking the main positions, it is then up to the opposition to man them all up correctly. He will be 26 this year if he can keep himself fit he will deserve big dollars, he plays ruck better than Warnock and Wood and requires attention around the ground so the opposition ruckman has to be accountable.
He is the sort of bloke you want in your team as he displays the attitude of a guy who doesn't mind getting his hands dirty and is not afraid to throw a team on his back and say "let's go"
Dean Cox was not a ruckman who was groomed to be a forward, he rested forward and the opposition had to try and man up on Lynch, Kennedy and Darling, you may quieten down 2 but the third will always bob up to take a grab, this is what we require from Kreuz.
Warnock is a highly paid back up for Kreuz and Wood imo.

So if we did lose Kruz at the end of the year. Would we most likely receive 1st or second round compo

Has been injured, hasn't been featuring in B&Fs. Is a former #1 draft pick but being a former #2 didn't help O'Rourke's trade value much. It's going to come down to the size of his contract offer. He needs to have a good season for that value to give us a first rounder after our original first rounder but hopefully we're not going to finish 2nd last like Melbourne in order to get that extra top 3 pick.

If I was to guess, maybe, maybe somewhere in #10 to #19 range.

I wouldn't worry about Krooz.

The technical/stats guys will work out pretty quick his impact as either forward or ruck. If his output and the teams performance are better in those minutes he's on the ball I've no doubt he'll spend more time on the ball.

I know he has been injured but he has played 106 games. I feel those stats should have painted a picture by now and don't require another look to determine best position at 26 years of age.
