I dont see why we need Kruezer as a forward anyway.

With us picking up Jones, we will be to top heavy playing Kruezer forward. Play him in the ruck and let Casboult chop him out!

Rucking is such a physically taxing role these days, even Sam Jacobs and Sandilands have to be pushed forwards at times to be given a rest. I have no problem with Mick trying to nurse Kruezer slowly back into the senior ranks by easing him in the forward, it makes sound sense from an injury/fitness base point of view.

That's why I reckon Cam Wood is an very important recruit for us, think he has shown to be a capable ruckman who can go forwards and snag a soda or two (something Hampson and Warnock are/were incapable of)

Kruezer if unhappy, really needs to swallow his pride and be content to play where MM wants him.

It's flawless in theory: replace someone who can take a strong contested mark inside forward 50 with someone who can't.

Wood kicked 2 goals - I'd hardly call that a deluge.

Hampson arguably had his best season playing first ruck last year. But with Maric back he'll be pidgeon-holed as a tall forward with Vickery and Griffiths.

Has a few issues off the field, but I think Mick is the man to turn him around.

From what Malthouse has said, Kreuzer knows how to ruck but isn't good at playing as a forward and marking the ball which I couldn't agree more with. Train the guy as a forward, get him doing as much marking as possible. His marking is holding him back from being a real star, basically he can't do enough of it at training. If this means he starts taking more marks around the ground and contributing as a forward then this plan will have paid off in a massive way. If it doesn't then we haven't really lost anything. I still think this is all about player development and improving a guy who looks like they could play forward and take a lot of marks but doesn't. It would be negligent and stupid to ignore a players flaws rather than focus on them and help the player go to the next level.

As for Warnock and Wood, teams have won premierships with players like this in the ruck. If you're relying on your ruckman to win you games and do your ground/clearance work you're in big trouble, probably because this means you have a poor midfield. Ruckmen are there to make things easier for their team mates around them and make them better first and foremost, anything else they do is a bonus and of course it does make it easier if they can do other things.

Not so sure TBH. Agree that Wood looks OK, but tend toward the view that Hammer was a ruck/fwd rather than the KPF we tried to make him into. Would have been much more than handy as a resting ruck.

I'm OK with MK learning the craft up forward as I see it as a vital part of any ruckman's game. He IS a No 1 Ruck though and pray that this is where we intend to play him.

We'll only play 2 rucks if Levi's form drops off. A 3-man interchange bench is a handicap.
