So as one mod to another (yes, I'm that pretentious), how many deleted posts involve memes that include cats and/or pr0n?

In all seriousness I never knew. Congrats on getting Terry Wallace there, that should provide a nice boost to your sub. Now to ask him lots of questions about Tambling over Buddy...

We've pretty successfully eradicated memes and in general it's a pretty great community. I can't recall a time that any pr0n has been posted to be honest...

Yeah had no idea we would get him! A user just said to us "Hey I know Terry Wallace, want me to ask if he wants to do an AMA?" and it's gone from there. We got Mitch Robinson to do one in 2013 which was excellent as well.

And surprisingly not too many questions about Tambling v Buddy!

He talks way way too much about individuals with his time at Richmond.

Nathan Brown got injured. Brad Ottens was traded. We mucked up the draft and so on and so on.

Maybe it comes from his playing success at Hawthorn and hence he was always on the look out for the right collection of gun players so he could form a great team instead of developing players and developing a team. But it comes off like he's a fan who gets to coach the team and is thinking well if we get player x in the draft and trade for player y and get player z fit then we will have a good team.

Very good tactical match day coach but changing up the tactics to win individual games can further falter the overall development of a team.

Q: simple question, why Richard Tambling over Buddy?

Wallace: Simple answer: I'd only been there for 4 weeks and I asked my recruiting staff to pick the best player. They believed at the time that Tambling was a 200 game player, where Franklin had a great upside but had some questionable character traits. Don't forget that Hawthorn and Bulldogs also didn't use their first pick on Franklin.

Q: There has been a lot of talk about tambling. What do you think stopped him from becoming the elite player many expected. We hear a lot about how recruiting has become a more thorough process Do you think current list managers would have seen things that were missed back then.

Wallace: Richard Tambling was a better player in his first two weeks at the club, than what he was after three years. When he arrived he played with freedom and the scrutiny took that away from his natural game.

I'm expecting lots of plough plough's daughter jokes just like that legendary thread after his last game coaching Richmond.

Said the best player he coached was Brad Johnson then Scott West. I wonder if his answer would be different if he had a better relationship with Chris Grant, who was the main man responsible for denying him a farewell game?

Classic

Very good read. He kind of goes into a bit of detail on what were the issues with Richmond, Plus a bit of insight on Why tambling never took off, great AMA

Q: What club was the worst to deal with in trade week?

[–]Terry_Wallace. Essendon easily - notoriously the worst to trade with as they always overrated their players and underrated everyone else.

lol

Wingard, Wines, Boak, Westhoff, Trengove, Hartlett, Neade, pick 17 and a packet of chips for Paddy Ryder...

if anyone's interested in asking him some questions, 8pm AEST - 30/1/2015

Thanks for sharing, I really enjoyed that.

I likely buck the trend but I enjoy Wallace' work in the media. Sure he gets it wrong sometimes but he enjoys entering the conversations and hypotheticals so many media pundits avoid - he's generally good fun.

It's funny, hundreds and hundreds of inane, shit threads on bigfooty get thousands of views and hundreds of comments - yet when an actual AFL person and former coach is conversing with fans online, it basically gets ignored here. .

Yeah very true should make the thread title something negative about Collingwood that will get the views up
