don't think WCE/richmond needs to be done right now (mostly because i'm lazy even though this whole process takes 2 seconds) but here's the shitty photoshop template i used, available for download so someone else can do it

Thanks Essee, and thanks for the template, I may get a few done when I get a chance.

The second point St Mark has raised is in terms of scoring. Last season the scoring system was:
1 point was given for every game that was predicted correctly, this means that both teams jumper and shorts needs to be correctly guessed to receive the one point.
0 points were given if the you got one of the four wrong
Also, if you missed a round of tipping, you'd receive the lowest score that someone tipped minus 2. This means of the lowest score for a round that was tipped was 5, you'd receive 3 points. This was introduced to help keep those that miss a round alive in the competition instead of leaving them 8-9 points behind.

Mark has mentioned a posting deadline. Last season I had a strict line on people editing their post after the games had started. It wasn't liked by many people, but it was there to help stop cheating. This meant people had to repost their tips with the edit.
I also thought that bringing the deadline to 1hr before the game, as people would be able to post their tips minutes before games have started after seeing what teams are wearing for the game.
Another option is to bring a hard deadline before the first game of the round, which would mean no tips can be changed after the start of the first games. This would obviously come with a partial lockout for rounds split over two weekends and Thursday night games.

I'm sorry if this post sounds to dictator-ish but these kind of things are up for discussion at this point.

That sounds completely fair. If people don't like it, tough luck. You're trying to keep things fair and neutral.

Personally, I never knew of the rule regarding people missing a round. Wish I'd known it a bit earlier :/

As an idea, and I know it's been brought up before, should we have 2 points available per round? One point per team for shorts AND guernseys. If someone doesn't get both right, no points but if both are right 1 point is scored for that team

So basically, one point for each team, totalling 18 points for the round? We tried that in 2013, Gibbsy preferred 9 points per round. But if there is enough interest, I can't see why that wouldn't help change his mind.

The points system is okay. Nothing spectacular but there's nothing inherently wrong with it, either. The other alternative would be a mark out of 4 - 1 point for home shorts, away shorts, home guernsey, away guernsey - but that is basically giving away points. I'm not a fan of the 4 point per game system but I don't hate it either.

In regards to a deadline - I think it would be best to just have the cut-off before the whole round starts. I strongly recommend you also quote everyone who has entered the competition so you have a record of what they've posted, because there are simple ways to edit your post without it showing that you've edited it.

This is sort of why I suggested a two point system. Four points is too much, and too easy. One point per match may mean that someone could feel cheated for making a small mistake and so getting nothing. One point per team, to me, seems the logical answer. In the end it boils down to what we're all voting on. The game matchup, or the individual teams kits.

I agree with a lockout perhaps 1-2 hours (Victorian Time) before the first match of the round with a quote to prove what everyone voted on

I agree, four points is way too many points for one game, with would mean 36 points per round, and 792 points for the season.

I never have never previously thought of quoting the tips during the first game. Thanks for that, it'll be useful.

When I go through the games for the round, it's pretty obvious to work out what the home team will be wearing (99% of the time), it's more of a question of what the away team will be wearing. That's why I'd prefer to see it as 1 point per game.
We could always bring in a bonus point somewhere, but it may have to do with AFL results and tipping.

Thanks, I remember last season, someone would always vote 30mins before the first game. Giving himself a better chance for points on the first game.

Lock out should be heaps earlier.
Clubs use social media 2 or 3 hours before the bounce so there might be some hints there.
Klim, this is one of those times where two posts should have been one post, because you were stupidly cryptic in your first attempt.

Please learn to elaborate.

I keep forgetting to reply to my own thread.

Those extra icons will be awesome for the preferences bit that a lot of people do.

I like the idea of two points per game, one for each team. Not so much because you don't lose as many points if you only get the away team's shorts wrong, but so that people who completely spud it up get less.

We could even try 3 points per game, with the extra point there for people who correctly predict socks Dylan8

And I definitely like the idea of a lockout. The only reason why most people were changing their votes during the round last year was because we got some definitive sign that a team was wearing one specific uniform, and everybody rushed to change their tip. And in that case, it isn't really in the spirit of the ol' jumper tipping, anyway. For people who don't get their tips in in time, well, they've already had all week to get it done.

Looking forward to going back-to-back in 2015.

Also, can we not have someone 'revealing' the uniforms for each match two hours prior to the first bounce?
Tag Klim if you want to complain about him, and I do agree. I'd rather see pics of the game rather than graphic confirmation.

btw, working on trying to get a badge for you.

Considering I was the one that came up with the idea of 'weekly jumper predictions', the badge should be a hand.
