Sydney are showing there is still a large gap Freo has to make up to win the premiership.

I think we need to start playing Blakely and Weller over the likes of MDB, Pearce and Suban to bridge that gap. There may be some doubt about whether they are better right now but give them a consistent run at the top level and I think we'll reap the benefits towards the end of the year when it counts.

Freo and Port did not play that well last week.

I disagree with that.
A good hard game. Skills perhaps a bit rusty but a real intense contest.

Blakely perhaps. The problem is they really aren't conditioned enough to play at afl level for four quarters. Someone (I think it might have been purple reign) mentioned how spent Langdon looked at the end of the game, and that was a WAFL match. Weller still had a good game, but it looks like he dropped off a little from last week. Might have just been the conditions or one of those days. Although, he's probably still getting his body used to professional level footy. It's not Connor and Weller that will make the difference to us this year, it's Pav and Luke being healthy, Fyfe converting set shots and us really pressuring the opposition. I mean, port were bullied tonight, but do you seriously think Fyfe, Gu, Mundy and Barlow will be so easily physically out muscled? I don't. In fact didn't Port have more I50's? They just could not put the score on the board at stages and that's what killed them. It's what will also kill us.

Yes indeed.

I'm worried. We really struggled to get past Port, but Sydney have made them look second rate. Sydney's structures and their pressure is a level above what we took up to them last week.

We took a lot out of them.

Yeah good point. Lots of people, including me, thought how did we win against Port, and we do need to lift our quality to have a chance against swans and hawks. It's early in the season. Let's see where we are after round 4.

I didn't say it would be easy and we need to get over Geelong tomorrow
If we do , I feel confident we can beat both wc and Sydney at Subiaco. We have been very close to Sydney for a few years now ; there is very little between us when we are close to full strength.
I would have money on Freo going 4-0.

Wce were made to look good but it's a derby and anything can happen. As for the game against Sydney the boys will really need to be on their game. Sydney goes alright here.

You wont win the flag this year if you go 2-2, it would mean you lost to us, cant see it happening unless you get into a melee at half time with Geelong and half your team gets suspended.

I think they have played Fremantle at Subiaco twice since 2004 in H&A games.
As for the comment , anything can happen in games between FREM and wc, that's history. For the past 5 years the best team, the favourite, has won.
I expect next week to be no different. They are very predictable games, now.

Freo still need to find a way to beat the best teams (top four) away from home, and it's been done once in Ross Lyon's time at the club (Geelong QF 2013). Saying "we'll get Sydney/Hawthorn/etc at Subi" means nothing.
