Agree with this. Eddie Betts. Had his worst season record, we identified him in a trough. Now it's Cheers all round.

We either identify jaded goods and turn them back on track, or give up our first round picks + huge $$ and/or equivalent players.

Best teams (Sydney is a good example) cherry pick other lists' talent to play a role. Aish may be having a below average year, but he sure as shit would've been handy yesterday.
Agree ...there were some that were critical of what they thought we were paying Eddie based on his poor year ....now everyone including his team mate most importantly that' it's a bargain

GWS showed yesterday what we are missing and Aish does not help to fill this gap

we will just add another player with average leg speed and compound the issue even more

Aish is above average, not elite, but above average. We didn't see smith or Danger show their pace until their 3rd year. B. Crouch hasn't shown his yet either (at draft camp he was rated as elite speed). Aish is faster than people think he is, he will start to show it once he has played 50 games and confidence gives him more composure.

If you are doing this, at a SANFL grand final, at 16, you're not slow.

Olympic 100m sprints aren't won by 18-year-olds, they are won by 23/24-year-olds.

Crouch dominated speed testing at draft camp??

Really??

GWS has to be our target.

We don't have enough quality for our first 21... Half of their seconds side are elite junior talents.

but really, how many opportunities did they get to surge through the midfield, and how many of those were a direct result of us giving the ball straight to them?

it felt like not many and most to me, with the times they didn't get it from us being due to walking it out from the centre bounce.

put it this way, if we decide now that being fast is the only way to win our next flag we're 20 years away. The brilliant thing about footy though is that there are many ways to win, and hopefully Phil is carving out our niche and targeting the right players in future drafts and trades to fill the gaps.

Settle down nellies. Buying low would be freakin awesome for us. He's class. Watch his game turn around when he is playing where he wants to be. He'll replace VB or Wright and we'll come out well ahead.

The fact that soo many people fail to understand this whole point is just plain ridiculous... Really do not understand what is not to get here.

this is my concern, most of our players fall in the average to above average bracket for leg speed, do we really need another

IMO people are getting caught up in the romance of having an Aish play for the AFC however I am no convinced that he is what we need

Goals from turnovers mostly came from our own mistakes.
:confused:.....sorry KE. not meaning to be picky ....but our mistakes are the definition of a turnover?

Heyy... they borrowed ports tarps for that game. Another one that's copied them.

Toumpas playing very well for Melbourne today; he's one we should be chasing as well - and would definitely fit the need we have.
Might have been able to get him cheap if he kept in the VFL all year, but if he plays the rest of the year like today I don't think we'd have a chance of getting him.

I think the people opposed to getting Aish aren't opposed to giving up a second round pick for him but it is pretty likely even with the shithouse effort he is putting in this year, Brisbane will want a first rounder for him. If all they are getting offered is a second rounder...it'd make sense to make a stand and send him to the draft. Given, that we are screaming out for a KPP at both ends of the ground, that is where we need to spend the 1st rounder if we are spending it, not on a midfielder.

Nobody thinks he is shit, it's just if we spend our first rounder to get him and then get a "Liam Jones" type in for a KPP player, then you'd have to wonder what was the point.

Are you hearing much about our activity?

it's hard for me to ake a judgement on him as I've barely seen him (does anyone have any video of him from last year?)
but as a trade would you be happy to give our first for Aish and their second, likely a pick in the early 20's
We won't have a second round pick probably have to use it on Keays and if we do have we're likely to use it on a key forward
