It boggles the mind that some people don't see the clash. It was the worst clash I've ever seen at a game that I've attended.

The 2% less gold will be all the difference. Especially given there's MORE gold on the Hawthorn now that they don't have the white number-box.

2015 tri panel, with navy shorts, and hawks in white shorts would be fine IMO.

- both guernseys have changed since then.

- that game was in the sun (colours stand out more under lights)

- navy/navy vs gold/white certainly contrasts better than navy/gold/white vs gold/brown


The example image from 2010 is so overused on this board. The visual matchup would be quite similar to Adelaide vs Richmond a few weeks back.

This is pretty much what the WCE TP still looks like, with thin side-panels and a slightly thinner white stripe. It remains that there's a whole third of the front, and quarter of the back, that is gold. Thinner centre white stripe actually means more gold on the front, even if there is a little less on the side due to sidepanels. So the below picture would still be an accurate representation of what it would look like for both teams to have their main jumpers. Richmond's clash jumper also would not work against WCE TP, again due to both teams having very dominant gold in the jumpers.

Which is why tri-panel is such a poorly designed jumper. Clashes with Navy/ Black teams on one side, yellow teams on the other. Plus the addition of white just messes things up more.

A royal wings or navy wings jumper just makes so much sense - not only does it reduce clashes, it looks so much better!
Add in the yellow peril clash, you've got one of the best jumper sets in the league.

Agree the TP isn't a great-looking guernsey. White jumpers against it are fine though, and Hawthorn have one of those - it's butt-ugly but it's effective.

The shorts weren't the issue at the time, it was the similar colours in vertical stripes that caused the problems, I'd argue that the side panels on the tripanel will make it worse given it creates a stripe design on the yellow side.

Full royal kit would be superb. What I can see definitely throwing a spanner in the works is sponsor arrangements. SGIO has to be on the front of the guernsey for home games (as far as I am aware) and they no longer print kits with alternating sponsor logos, ergo there are no royal guernseys with SGIO logos on the front.
