Okay guys, have been in meetings all day, taking sneaky looks at the AFL site for the news but couldn't get away until now.

Now that it is finally official that Danger is leaving, I will say this once, then move on to 2016:

**Deep Breath**

**** you Patrick Dangerfield, you lying, selfish, cowardly ****head. Go **** yourself off back to Moggs and enjoy the rest of your career with no success whatsoever with Geelong. I hope that when the Crows are fulfilling Walshy's vision and playing off for a flag in 2017 a tear rolls down your cheek with the thought that you could be beside all these boys who stayed to complete what he began. All this bullshit about "haven't even thought about it" all ******* year was a load of crap and you know it. Maybe stop insulting your fans by calling them "hobbyists" and actually have some respect for the people who cheer you on every week, even though you do **** up most entries into the forward 50 and turn the ball over more often than not. Go enjoy your beers with your besties Cunston and $kurt and laugh about how you three campaigners have practically destroyed this footy club with your selfishness. One last thing before the door hits your ass: don't **** us over with getting value for you. We developed you into the #3 player in the country, we deserve to get something back for the time and money we have apparently wasted.

Don't even bother hiding when you are back in town for the inevitable yucks the AFL will have by playing us off against each other in Round 1, you aren't even worth booing.

Screw you, prick!

**Breathes out**

I'm done :)
nice work!

If we match, and Danger goes to the PSD does the price he put on his head have to be the same as the free agency offers or can he increase it to whatever he wants?

He can probably increase it to whatever he wants, but he may increase it to the point that Geelong may not even be able to afford him. I would think Geelong have probably already put up the max they can afford to pay him.

Guys, ease up a little!!!! isn't this just a hobby for us?
Which suggests the club is a sport ....not a business ....and it's all a bit of kick & catch

Except he gets $800K pa for that little bit of kick & catch

Our aim needs to be two first rounders, and Nakia.

And it's not unrealistic.

We're talking one of the two premier midfielders in the AFL, who is about to enter his prime.

He'll win at least one Brownlow.

If someone offered you a 25 year old GAJnr for 2 first rounders and a good young prospect, still all speculative, you'd do it in a heart beat.

That has to be our starting point.

Danger will avoid the PSD like the plague unless he doesn't mind any Vic team

If it came to it, wouldn't he make some ridiculous price $1.5 million or something, for a 2 year deal and Geelong would renegotiate contracts to get him there then sign on for $400,000 for the next 3? Or have I got that all wrong in the way it works

He can't increase it beyond Geelongs current offer .....as they'll be committed to honoring his price demands

I'm not angry as such. Just bloody upset.

I was wearing my crows Guernsey on the day he was drafted.

I was there with the other crows fans who were all shocked we overlooked ebert. An old mate of mine who used to frequent these forums until it became a conflict of interest (;)) hooked me up with a DVD of all his TAC cup games...well was I bloody impressed after that or what?!

I was overseas when he debuted, tuning in at 4am to watch his first game and then a few years on when he got given the 32 it was like a match made in heaven. Now whilst we haven't had the ultimate success of late I always thought he would have been pivotal in any future success. Danger was always there, we could always rely on him to crack in. I often forgave his sloppy disposal because he was so hard at it and he was ours!!!

But now he is not and it just plain sucks.

He wasn't kidding when he said this last year at our B & F:

One thing I have learnt about Dangerfield is he is a walking act. I wonder if there is anything genuine about him at all! Watch out Geelong, this guy seems to say one thing and do the complete opposite.

Have to be careful with term "first round pick" .....there are 18 first round picks not inc compensation picks

Need to think 2 x top 10 picks .....plus

Honestly, it is. You want three Round One picks for a single out of contract player. Essentially picks 9, 10 and say 14.

As I wrote above there are myriad machinations where we pay less than that for him. We are not mortgaging the future of the club by giving 2014, 2015 and 2016's first round draft picks away.

Sociopath. His airport interview yesterday confirmed it for me.

Sometimes I wish it was as easy as soccer.
"We offer to purchase X for Y amount of $ for Z years. Deal or no deal?"
Nah. If the AFL was like the major soccer leagues, we'd be sitting here watching one of three sides winning the premiership every year. Based on which clubs are richest at the moment, I think that'd be Collingwood, West Coast and Hawthorn. We'd also be watching Dangerfield, Fyfe, Pendlebury and Josh J. Kennedy all running around in Pies colours.

Why the interest in Cockatoo? Seems like a nothing player to me.

BUT....it could also be a real benefit to the club if we play our cards right

If i said "sell Dangerfield" to get 2 x Jake Levers and a Matt Crouch .....would you say yes?

PLUS ....we still retain our first round picks as well ....or trade for Bennell or Menzel

I would think any Victorian club would be crazy if they weren't interested in Dangerfield at 800k a year.

Does anyone really think that Dangerfield would seriously threaten to retire if he doesn't end getting drafted to Geelong ?

Melbourne, Carlton (without Judd and Henderson) and St Kilda would have more than enough cap space available for him and would be crazy if they weren't interested in him.

Wouldn't mind Carltons 1st rounder for 15/16.

You're buying the future of your club, by poaching the best player in the game.

If it means you need to pay fair value, which the above is, then so be it.
