We've had enough Lamb jokes. Now you are trying to encourage Rice jokes?

I wouldn't be hurt if he did choose the saints. We have quite a few of his type and he isn't exactly the 'cream of the crop' in this draft.

Oh great... :rolleyes:

The photo of him in the HUN today reminds me of his father. Stocky and well built, (like a brick s...house) ala Leith Matthews like.
He has followed us all his life because of his dad. Yes, I hope he nominates us.:D

Not joking at all. Each draft is a discrete event and therefore past results do not affect future draft probabilities in any way. Look up where the best player from the last 15 drafts were picked at. Could be anywhere within the top 30 or so I'm guessing.

Drafting is subjective and the success of a selection at any pick number is solely based on the competence of those doing the selecting (as you said in your post), not a mathematical formula.

I agree it is tradeable for the right price, for sure. But any argument for trading it should have no mention of previous draft results - they are irrelevant.

Yeah i disagree with previous drafts being irrelevant, you analyse every draft and you will see that the good players come mostly in the top 30 and that players in the top 20 will generally play more game than those outside this range. All this information is data that is collected and then used to make more informed decisions in the future. You mentioned probabilities, if you are assessing the probability of pick 1 being the best player in the draft then you would use the data from previous drafts.

Is 8 years enough? It depends on how far away you think we are from developing into a top four team. I think talk of being a top four team in 4 to 5 years time is wishful thinking. Also not sure that Whiley and Tutt are at a standard or could be called core players that you'd build a top 4 team around.

If thats the case are we trading gibbs and Murphy next year or the year after?

Yes, I'm hoping he nominates Carlton as his preferred home as well. I would love him to come to the club.

I'm just saying that it wouldn't hurt me if he does happen to pick St. Kilda and stay around Seaford. As long as G-SOS (SOSOS or Silvagni) is in the navy blue for next year, I am a very happy person.

Jed Anderson wants to come to us.Hawks showing interest in Yarran.

Bolton connection helps. Hawks would love a committed Yarran. Prefer their #18 though.

I don't usually function this way, but I couldn't handle watching the best of Yarran at Richmond.....who don't want to offer up any more than a 2nd anyway.

If the Hawks do want him (to Denhams chagrin) they won't procrastinate but just offer the deal that is fair and reasonable.

Only one of the above that I'd have an issue with is the casboult/bell -> mayes (or compo) trade.

we give up 2 X first 22 players that have huge upside - you want something pretty damn good in return. For myself, mayes isn't that person - nor is a compo in a shallow draft.

I'd rather
Keep casboult and then trade bell -> compo (and only b/c of his circumstances, would prefer to keep him otherwise)

The other thing I'd like to see is the blues waving the future 1st round about to see who might want to have a nibble. Conventional wisdom suggests that pick will be pick 1 or 2 (in a 'strong' draft).

If we can get a gun young player + 1st round pick in return I'd take it
boyd + dogs first (2016) -> our first (2016)
treolar + GWS first (2016) -> our first (2016)
omeara + GCS first (2016) -> our first (2016)

You get the idea of the type of player I'd be looking for :)

Of course most clubs would say no -> to which case, you then lower the asking price for pick 1 i.e. GWS tomlinson + scully + GWS first (2016) -> our first (2016) or tomlinson + whitfield + GWS 2nd (2016) for our 1st (2016) :)

I like your idea of throwing next years first round pick around to see if anyone bites (would Adelaide have tried to move Danger on a year early if they new) but your trade scenarios border on crazy. Lets say we have pick 1 in next years draft. Treloar and Omeara are worth that on their own, Boyd is unknown. What do you want with pick 1? Whatever your answer is, Treloar and Omeara have all that. Offering next years first knowing we are getting Geelongs and maybe Richmonds could help us get in some youth a year early.

spoke to a bloke last week who works pt at the geelong falcons. said young curnow could easily be the best player to come from there side. apparently has played everywhere and has been injured but said once he gets fit he sees him a lot like fyfe. would be top 3 if fit. if true what are our chances of getting him as sounds like what we need

Chances seem zero as it looks we are taking Geelongs 2016 pick, we would need another top 10 pick to have any chance.

If we were to gain 2 first rounder next year via the Yarran & Henderson trades (If), would we consider moving on, our next years first for the right deal?

Many may see that as a straight up top 3 pick. Would we do it for the right player? Have a feeling it may just come into play.

I would yes, for a gun mid, Omeara, Treloar, Prestia not sure what other players, Boyd from the dogs maybe if he comes on
