I suppose one positive for him is that he's not just a grinder or an accumulator, he can actually play shots to get his runs. Might end up leading to him getting out sometimes, too, but at least he probably won't get tied down a heap either.

Just don't see his style holding up as he ages. Unless the current dearth of talent continues, I think the runs will dry up and he'll be forced out before he cracks 100 Tests.

Guess we'll see.

Another few years down the track and having a revisit of this one. Gaz looks on track. Will get there comfortably before anyone else if things continue as you would expect.

Warner is still a decent chance I think. If he gets back in before the Ashes then he only needs 2-3 years in the side to get there.

Prompted by my original post getting a 'like', three years on, Dean has played zero Tests, and has a career Shield average of 33.51 (6 hundreds, 8 fifties, 8 ducks).
