I'm confused by this. So if you're lucky enough to be loaded with GST players you have to delist the extra ones that exceed 11?

Yes. For everyone to have 8, that requires 144 players. There are only 32 more than that available, so one team having 4 of them is reducing the pool too much so it is unfair on the rest (with benefit of hindsight I would've allowed one more, but I didn't).

So from the other thread, the players listed there you have to have between 8-11? Or your entire list?

There have been around 40 names added to the GST list since applications began.
I know a few of them are for dual position but given the circumstances I'd recommend changing it to 12 this off-season to reflect the increase in numbers.

I'm pretty sure I'm meeting all of the requirements so it doesn't affect me in any way. But I get the feeling some people misunderstood what the GST meant and have put themselves over the maximum because of this.
For example, the team already had 3 goal scorers but thought they weren't going to be able to play someone in the forward line if they weren't on the list. I think ShaunDuggan asking about Watts today when St Kilda already have 6 goal kickers is the perfect example.

If someone ends up under the minimums maybe you can rule that the players required to bring that team up to the minimums must come from a team that is over the maximum and allow those teams to work out a suitable trade? It wouldn't be all that different to what you've done in the past when teams have been over the salary cap or list numbers when official trading and bidding has closed.

I think the GST is a good idea, but maybe a little bit of flexibility is a needed this year and use it more as a stepping stone to a rule that can be set in stone next season.
I think most teams will have met the requirements and those who haven't should be close. As long as the minimums are met this season it's achieved it's goal

I have 14 players from my 2015 list, who have automatically been classed as GST, most of which I didn't even apply for. Apparently Rhys Palmer is a goal-kicker, despite kicking less goals in his career than games played. I've traded out one player classed as a stopper, however the other GST classified players I would prefer to keep.

So now I have to forcibly delist three? What if they're contracted? I can't play them but I'm still paying for their salaries?

Wouldn't it be just better if you had to name a minimum of six GST players per week, (a third of your team of 18) which would obviously mean that the minimum GST players you need would be six? That means there would be a minimum 108 players required.

For example a GST player should be named at FB, CHB, CHF, FF, RCK and one other position. There should be two GKs, two STs and one TAP named at the very least per week, with the minimum sixth coming from any of the classifications. You could of course name more.

Naturally you would try to have more that six GST players on your squad, to avoid scoring 0 in that position, in case there were injuries to that player. For example Ivan Maric might be injured, so I would have tow or three extra tappers to cover his loss.
