I have a feeling...just a feeling...that we didn't expect Weideman to be available at #8 and trained our eye onto McKay.
The interest may be what we will do if someone we didn't expect to be at #8, to fall there and especially so where we would obviously want to maximize both picks #8 & #11 with only Adelaide having a live pick between those selections.
How do we get Adelaide to do what we want them to do, in order to get who we want @ #11?

Looks like talk of Parish sliding to #8 has stopped. Bugger:mad:
But Curnow a definite prospect at #8 now.:)
Looks like Oliver is still rising so may be out of our reach at #8.:(
Needs of CFC, Dees and * should make this draft interesting.:rainbow: or :fire: and supporters are really divided on likely needso_O
Not great that the Draft is the most interesting part of 2015.

Id be OK with Collins at 11 if we get a good slider with 8. If anything, his chemistry with Weitering should mean we lock in our two key defenders for the next 10-12 years in one draft.

Ideally for mine we'd go:
1. Weitering
2. Curnow
3. Collins
4. Best available mid
5. SOS

Ill be dissapointed if we take Burton at any pick before 19. Dont wanna waste picks on very risky prospects. We just traded away a South Australian forward with question marks over his knee.

Oliver is still around our mark in most of the actual phantoms isnt he? Likr Twomey etc, I think the hype train is building on BF a little faster than reality.

No, Twomey has him at Melbourne's first pick now. So #4 or #3 in non academy players.

Every player has question marks, what about Collins? His game is perfected at U18's level but will he be able to replicate that at AFL level? He reads the flight well and is strong, but dors that mean he can do what he does at U18's against Tex or Cameron? Who knows, theres question marks there. With Burton he's the more talented one and the issue is mainly - durability and future health. Weighing up which is more of a risk is quite a task.

Maybe we did that when trading Menzel..

Well there you go

Ah well - of the top 8 i've mentioned before Milera is the only one we may be hesistant on, so as long as Milera goes before us we should still get a gun regardless of whether its Oliver, Parish, Weids or Curnow

I dare say we'd have a pretty good idea of who the teams in front of us are selecting. Cannot wait for tomorrow night though.
If SOS and dodoro are good mates as suggested then we should have a fair idea which way they are leaning..

Even a slide from 3 to 8 isnt exactly huge nor unheard of. We may have put more work into other players based on likelihood of who would be available, but surely we've done enough work on those higher rated guys that taking the slider becomes a no brainer.

Heard Curnows a bit of a loose unit and his incident last week hasn't surprised many people in his friendship network.
Heard the complete opposite. Good kid who just made one silly mistake.

Of course there are question marks over every player....and it would probably be easy to suggest that Collins is more likely to go at a pick somewhere between closer to our 4th than our 3rd. You can only judge these guys on the competition they've faced....Weitering is being assessed on the basis of his U18's performances too.

As a club, we are in a position of needing good talent, with less risk. A player who has been good at their respective level and doesnt have health concerns wins out for us given our position. If we were flush with talent, then i'd more likely lean towards the talented one and hope we can manage the health side, because we could afford that risk not paying off. Unfortunately we are last, and without a strong spine.

No chance this happens... but would be interesting hypothetical...

Say no one at all bids on the academy players... and other teams let them fall to the academy teams pick... i.e hipwood fall to 38

Would GWS/BRIS etc all be passing on numerous picks in the 3rd/4th/5th round?

Not that it benefits anyone on draft night... but would make the list managers filthy they traded back so hard...

From memory Emma Quayle's mock draft last year was pretty good, with a few misses as with any other mock drafts, but mostly accurate.

What's interesting is last year there was a huge rumour we'd take Boekhort, maybe not so high but his name was heavily linked to us.

And the year before that we knew Cripss was going to Carlton.

this year though, aside from the obvious Pick 1 and SOSOS no such name is so heavily linked to us. Perhaps the player most linked to us is Harry McKay so maybe he will go to CFC?

Another query I have is - is there a risk Curnow Jnr will be a Master of Nothing type player? Some query his pace as a forward. Some say he doesn't have the tank yet for midfield... just saying ...

Lots of people saying lots of things............Have you read Quigleys views? No-one after about pick 5 are worth their weight in salt.

It does seem to be a 'highly speculative' type of draft, doesn't it? ...................................... then again, I guess most are.

I think that is harsh by Q.
Though I do agree a lot of the NAME players have gaps in their game, but that doesn't mean they won't be good players, just that development will be even more important for this draft lot.

Balic is a classy player but lacks the tank for midfield and isn't totally racking them up yet.
Gresham is a midget.
The McKays are raw, esp Ben.
Injury clouds over Weideman and Burton.
A lot of other Mid types are more HBFs right now.
Milera not a true mid yet, but ranked top 10.
The list goes on...

Just reporting what I heard.

Not questioning what you've heard HBF
Just saying that there's often more than just one mistake beyond the exposed mistake............may not be for Curnow and it may be the first time he's ever had a little to drink behind the wheel.........but we sort of don't buy that, do we?

I expect they will take 2 of Parish/Weideman/Francis/Oliver and Curnow. No idea which 2 though:oops:
Francis is a lock for * I reckon. He wants them, they want him....and will likely want anyone with half an inch of talent who actually wants to play for them.
