Roughhead was a natural footballer that was highly rated.

The players that we seem to "reach" for are the player that bloomed late. Only took up the game later. Only decided to take footy seriously later. McKay (whilst has way more potential) another case of reaching for a "raw" or "late blooming" player which I would prefer to avoid.

We're talking about 2 different things.

There's taking players in a different order to how you rate them, in order to get both players you want ie Roughhead and Buddy, and potentially, McKay and Curnow.

Then there's taking the player you rate, contrary to general consensus, ie Cripps, Boekhorst.
Sometimes you're right, sometimes you're not.

Cal Twomey this morning was saying Curnow very much in the mix for the crows. I guess it depends on whether Milera is still there. GC taking Ah Chee will help us big time, would be great if we do in fact get both McKay and Curnow

I don't think we will take a slider. Carlton has the tendency to lock in who they want, and then take them regardless.

I have this feeling we have already locked in H.McKay at 8 and Tucker at 11. This is not my ideal scenario but will go with the new recruiting team in whoever they decide on.

Pick 19 is a real roll of the dice. Be prepared to be disappointed, that;s all i'm saying.

Last year i'd had a few drinks pre-draft, I sobered up very quickly when we read out Boekhurst name

Different person in charge of recruitment this year though. SOS has stated that he will "play the draft".

Hang on. How did he make a mistake?

Did he get drunk? Did he then choose to drive without P-plates? Did he remove these plates knowingly? Did he go through a stop sign? Did he then refuse a breath test?
Sounds more of a 'purpose' to me rather than a mistake.

Of course young people do silly things and make genuine mistakes but it sounds as though Charlie may have known what he was doing.
Getting caught was his mistake.....or maybe lucky for him, he did.

Yep - It doesn't taking into account that you can't have 400 players on your list to try and find a decent player. Teams should lose the 20% discount on traded picks to stop trading pick 10 for 3 picks in the 40s

Nothing to show up Curnow as a midfielder but.... But if he can be, then we've got the mix right. One KF. One KB. One inside and one outside mid. Perfect.

What I am saying is that if any one of the 6 players mentioned are available at Pick 8, you would select that player before McKay.

Talk about being pedantic, dealing in semantics.
Teens make mistakes and knowing what you're doing and thinking you can get away with it is such a mistake.

That doesn't make us rat bags.
It is up to the club to find out if he is a bit of a loose cannon generally. If they think he is prone to being a dill they'll pass on him. But as far as I can read this is the first sign of him being a dill, so chances are he isn't a dill, he just made a big mistake which we have all done.

I was just thinking back to when I was 18 and the stupid things I used to do. Can't say that I refused a breath test, but my point still stands.

I think people forget they're driving a big metal rocket around the roads that could kill people and ruin families.

But yeah, he's likely to join us and I hope he gets a big reality check as to what's expected of him and that he needs to be more thoughtful. Silly mistake or not it shows signs of poor judgement.
