I love this guy. I watched him today, just in awe. Some of his passes! I literally have gone from watching zero college bb to now being obsessed with this unbelievably talented guys progress

Ben looked a bit flat today, didn't seem like he wanted to be a dominant scorer as in previous games. I wonder if that was the coaches/team plan or just a one off.

Didn't know they were playing today. Good game from him.
It was on at 6 am on espn 3 they are replaying it on foxtel at 11 pm.
He even hit a jump shit from the free throw line

Next game is on Wednesday at midday. Then the fun begins
30th vs Wake Forest 11am
3rd vs Vanderbilt 1pm
6th vs Kentucky 1pm

The game for today is on at 6pm and 11 pm

His free throws are fine so he can shoot. Doesn't need to be taking three point shots.
He just needs to avoid his natural shot being a fade away

Experts saying his shooting and "refusal to play long shots" are his main issue.

Most experts also say his shot is not fundamentally broken and should improve with a bit of work. His free throw % also supports this.

Was having a look at a few comments on Basketball Boards in the US. A lot of people think he's the absolute truth but there's more than a few sceptics who love to nitpick beyond the broken jumper theme. "Not as athletic as LeBron" is a criticism that I saw more than once! No satisfying some people.

Fair enough. I got shown the wrong articles after a random search.

Not sure if this has been covered already in this thread, still finding my way -

But is anyone concerned that Thon Maker is legitimately 4 years older than what he is claiming to be?

Is that really a theory? (i havent been following).
Plus i doubt its true, and clearly race/background plays a bit part in people making theories like that... But the same thing was said about Mutombo and Samuel Eto - didnt really impact either of their careers

I know for a fact that he is 4 years older than he is presenting. I know how that looks on an interwebs forum, but I know someone who taught him from year 8 to year 12, and then he went to the states as a year 8

May or may not mean anything.

Anyone who has a partner that comes from another country to Australia as a kid knows that when they first come over they have to figure out what year level to put them in and it's not always the same as you would think as different countries different schooling system. Not saying you are wrong but international kids coming to Aus and being shuffled from one year level to another when they then go to another country would be entirely common much less not suspicious at all.

This doesn't really add up. In 2011, when he was (supposedly) 14, he played for the U16 New South Wales team. In the same year he moved to the US. How could he play for the U16 team and attend year 12 at the same time?
