Even though it was only a NAB game, I've gone off Dahl since last night. I reckon he'll still be a premo, but there's just too much risk in starting with him. I think Crameri being out has changed his role again.

I did the same thing after watching last night's game.
Noooo!
Why you do this to me?!
:(

Please explain. So he'll spend more time forward? What do you see him averaging?

dahlhouse will still play midfield, he was one of the dogs best clearance players last year with wallis and the bont, remember he's top 5 in the league for forward 50 crumbs so he'll still score very well. Don't let his kicking let you down, he'll rack up the points

I could see him hold his 2015 average. But I could also see him dropping. I cannot see him raising his average on the 2015 benchmark.
He will still play midfield, be part of the rotations, will get plenty of touches, etc.
But the competition for midfield spots is getting really intense now, with Stringer looking to join the rotations, Daniel stepping up to the mark and Stevens coming back from lots of injury troubles and obviously Libba being fully fit again.

Whether it is Dahlhaus or Picken or Wallis who spends more time forward in 2016 than 2015, still too early to tell. But the risk is there and I would prefer someone else to start in my SC team who I think will be less of a risk, such as Wingard (who just became my F2).

I think I'm gonna start with Cyril. He's a risky pick with his Hammy history but he played 20 games last year so maybe he is over those issues. If he gets some extra mid time he could easily average 100+ IMO CD Love him. Maybe more goals for him too with Roughead out.

No Petracca because I don't think he will play early. I'm really struggling with the forwardline this year. In the past it's been easy with Gray, Parker, Rockliff, Mitchell, Swan. All quality mids to select as forwards. I just don't see the same points going around the forwardline this year. Top 6 could all be between 94-105. That's pretty bleak compared to years gone by.

Where do people see the midfield minutes coming from in this years bunch.

  • Deledio
  • Montagna
  • Martin
  • Dalhause
  • Bennell
  • Zorko
  • Barlow
  • Higgins
  • Rioili
  • Mitch Robinson
  • Sam Gray
  • Toby Greene
  • Aaron Hall
  • Ben McGlynn
Those are probably the only bunch of guys I'm looking at for the opening 4 slots. Mid pricers ect could be there as well.

  • Daniel Wells
  • Dean Towers
  • Jarryd Lyons
  • Jed Anderson
  • Liam Duggan
To think those are our options this year makes me ill

Was thinking this myself this morning

He was actually pretty consistent last year, hopefully he can turn that 90 average into a 100 average.

Deledio doesn't need midfield minutes, he scores his best playing half high forward.

His hammys usually blow up when he gets extended on ball minutes.
I don't think he needs midfield minutes to get that average up another ten. Roughead out should mean the ball goes to him more, plus playing two seasons without injury (hopefully) will help.

Does Stringer become relevant after his performance the other night? I love watching him play and he would think he could bump his ave up to a 90 and finish as an F6. Might be a solid pick given the lack of confidence in premo forwards this year.
Also considering Sam Gray and Cyril for F4 start.

You know deledio and montagna will score big but are they worth their price? dahlhaus is a very safe choice, but for me it's a lock for barlow, will play a lot more minutes in the midfield this year and playing on the best team during the season in the competition they won't lose many games. Also mitch robinson if you're game

I actually really, really like Mitch Robinson.

I'm debating on rolling the dice with him, instead of Barlow who everybody seems to be taking, because I just think Robbo will fire.

Only thing on Mitch Rob is that there is also Rockliff, Beams, Hanley, Zorko, Bell, Bastinac, Christensen, Lewis Taylor and Daniel Rich. The top end of their midfield scores highly as is. You'd expect if Rockliff, Beams, Hanley and Zorko all play 22 games they'll average 100, not to mention Bell, Bastinac and Christensen who are all capable of being around 100 each week too. Robinson is either going to average 85 or 105. That's just far too much of a risk at that price where you can get Rioli or Barlow, even Westhoff is more reliable.

Good point.

You won't find many players that don't have competition though.

Cyril's just too much of an injury risk for me.

If Mitch Rob puts up another 120 score this NAB Challenge he will almost certainly find his way into my team, it's just the high end midfield scoring at Brisbane that worries me. On the positive though. Brisbane were 18th in contested possession last season, they still finished last in that but in the last 6 weeks, when Robinson and Zorko were playing midfield, they were 12th. So both of those 2 guys are definitely supercoach friendly in terms of midfield minutes and at a struggling team in that area they could well find themselves those minutes each week.

I love Cyril this season. Only on the possibility that he plays half his quarters in the middle. Hodge can't go on forever battling away in there, I'm not sure on Cyril's midfield times last year but I would've thought watching most of their games that he increased them dramatically. He only averaged 15 touches a game last year and got 92 I think so just imagine if he gets 20 touches a game, 100+ is definitely on the offering.

Distinct lack of Devon Smith around here. Don't think I've seen him in a team yet, nor have I seen anyone even mention him. Averaged 90 in his 3rd AFL season. Backed it up with an 88 average last year in an inconsistent season marred by a niggling knee injury.

The article I posted suggests he'll find himself more on-ball this season (the absence of Treloar and addition of Steve Johnson into the forward line makes this a very real chance)

I can't see how he won't improve on his 88 average from last season considering he played most of it hampered by niggling injuries. I'll be keeping an eye on his NAB performances.

I think it's because he's a forward only, if F/M like Greene there would be a lot more interest.
