NT lad who went to PAC. Played at Sturt, followed Borgas to Uni this year to take the gloves. Solid keeper but still needs a little work. Good in the field. Aggressive minded bat, have seen him hook quick bowlers straight to long leg first rock this season - probably something he needs to work on. But he's got all the shots and usually good decision making. Picks up the ball quickly so won't have any issues with the quicker bowlers at shield level, if anything he'll enjoy the extra pace. Will score at a rapid rate usually.

The knock would be the hyper-aggression can backfire. Also not convinced how he'd go on a green seamer; there's a bit of flat track superstar about him.

Pretty fair assessment. Seriously talented though. Has the natural ability to succeed at a higher level.

Looks like Opie is in. Hearing Andrews/Valente battling for the last spot.

Also hearing Weatherald to open (what?) and Carey to bat 8 (double what??)

Only the SACAs know how to botch correct decisions.

Weathers opened last year and averaged about 15 so can't see how that could go wrong.o_O

Opie 12th I'm hearing

So Mennie, Worrall, Valente, Andrews the attack. Pretty raw! Two one-game veterans. Sayers back next game thankfully.

Carey at 7.

Always love seeing an underdog in the Shield final. If not for few injuries plus having to play Tom Cooper they could've been great. Love the look of their youngsters. Hopefully they can piss Cosgrove and Cooper off next year and give Smith, Jeff and Ross more opportunity.
Best of luck to them from a Tassie supporter

Unchanged team? Four quicks again?

Could perhaps bring in Andrews as the spinner but I get the impression they rate Head's offies as good or better than Andrews' LA orthodox.

I hope they don't panic and swap in Cooper or Ludeman.

Putland played grade cricket on the weekend but surely we wouldn't roll the dice on that.

Surely the baton was passed - going back would be a mistake

If I were the selectors I'd just stick with the same top 7 as the last match. Although Weatherald, Cosgrove and Raphael aren't playing well, the alternatives are either Cooper, Smith, Ludeman (all averaging under 17.80 this season, and worse than Carey) or a player who hasn't played for SA this season.

Regarding the bowling - Sayers, Mennie and Worrall are enough - Opie, Valente and Andrews are all averaging above 40 this season. Maybe Andrews could be selected to provide some variety and a stronger batting option at number 8?

Andrews for batting strength and we lose little in the way of bowling.

I heard Siddons say that they would continue to play attacking cricket and look to score quickly and that in his opinion there would definitely be a result

That may be true, but based on 2015-2016 bowling form, there's little difference between Opie, Valente and Andrews. So given that it's the final, Andrews' batting will probably be more of a consideration.
