Dimma gets another 2 years

With respect, I think you aren't quite understanding what a lot of posters are saying. There may not be anyone better this year, or maybe even next year. BUT, we have signed him up so if anyone better does come along, or if we continue to make finals without winning them, we are stuck with him. Or a sizable payout.
I'm not anti-Dimma necessarily. The question however is a simple one. Why did we NEED to sign him at this stage?????????? Got me buggered.

From RFC site:

Stability and unity have been critical to this Club’s recent improvement and the Board’s view was that a two-year contract extension was both deserved and prudent.”

IM not a fan , but it is what it is , we should get behind the team and I will be breaking remotes and screaming at the top of my voice cheering the tigers (whilst my neighbours tell me to shut up)

No, I don't believe everything I hear but all I'm saying is that everything I've heard says it's a happy camp. Haven't heard anything to the contrary and any talk of dissent in the ranks would filter out to the world pretty quickly IMO. Bad news travels fast.

Pretty sure we aren't losing players. Even Astbury didnt want to go.

Correct. That is the boards view. So, why is it deserved? We haven't improved our results in 3 years. Is that the standard that the board uses in it's decision making. And what has prudent got to do with it. Prudent is conservative, unchanging, safe etc. Often not the best approach to gain success. This is the point. A new contract was unnecessary at this stage. The players, the coach and the football dept should all be under pressure as every elite sportsperson and team is!!!

We improved our finishing position to 5th and it could have been 4th with a tiny bit of luck.

I think that when they say "prudent", they're talking about this definition:

characterized by, arising from, or showing prudence: as a : marked by wisdom or judiciousness <prudent advice> b : shrewd in the management of practical affairs <prudent investors> c : marked by circumspection : discreet d : provident, frugal

They're under enough pressure as it is. There's even more simply because it's Richmond. And Hardwick knows the expectations on him. The team knows it. Yes, positive pressure, not the miserable, harping, white-anting pressure from those to whom nothing is good enough.

Probably the most overlooked thing here.
Nobody ever wants to leave.
We simply just aren't as good as people think we are, but you at least give yourself a chance when everybody is on the same page.

i'm glad to hear that the players are still selecting the list and not Flair and Casino.
Really this sounds more like the lunatics are still running the asylum. FMD Astbury not wanting to go.

PS: i hope you were just having a giggle and that you were not serious

I guess we could go on forever with this. I think that what the majority of Richmond supporters want (I hope anyway) is to improve each year with a premiership the goal. It isn't " a harping, miserable, nothing is good enough" approach but rather a reasonable and realistic desire for the team to get better. I really can't see a problem with that approach.

Yeah, fair enough. But I think we've gotta remember that we're still taking baby steps when it comes to finals and we have much to learn before we can approach them like Hawthorn, for instance. Those campaigners have a turbo switch for finals.

I believe you. One thing I would like is a link to the AFL page that gives those finishing positions (even the one for 2015 would do) if anybody has it please.

I had this discussion with ST a couple of days back. All online ladders eg - http://www.afl.com.au/ladder and http://afltables.com/afl/seas/2015.html#lad have us finishing 5th, after the H&A season. I assume the ladder in the record is a post final ladder, which determines the draft order, excluding trades and academy picks.
