Frost's debut season as a 19/20 year old was promising.

Langdon's debut season as a 19/20 year old was promising.

Oxley's debut season as a 19/20 year old was promising.

They've all regressed significantly.

The bigger question for me is did this regression occur because of coaching and tactics/structure?

Now they will not be world beaters, but they were better players individually in their first seasons, someone is responsible for that?

Oxley regressed? Really? And I'd say Frost is as good as he ever was, he'd look a lot better if he wasn't playing on Buddy with the ball coming in there 200 times per game.

Apologies for this question, as it may already have been covered in this thread (I can't bring myself to read all the 'end of the world' threads). But can anyone advise if any of the likely lads we picked up last year -
Wills, Smith, Phillips, Gold - can play or be groomed for defence?

Smith has played a lot of footy at half back. He's a good ball user, has footy smarts and wins a bit of the footy. The hope would be that can translate to AFL level. His height at AFL level may be an issue, but I think if he is half back flank rather than deep that could be okay.

Gold has played a lot off half back flank but don't think he has the defensive game or ball winning ability to prosper. He'll run a lot, and the small amount of footy he wins will likely hit a target. Think a poor man's Armstrong.

Not so sure about the others. Phillips would have the ball use going for him but not sure if he can defend. Wills I suspect is best played in a clearance role. He seems better inside and may struggle for pace in defence but haven't seen a real heap of him to truly assess more than a few initial impressions.

I think the thread should be re-titled poorly skilled backline, midfield and forward line.

Ramsay would be better for kickouts but lacks penetration... Scharenberg may be the long term answer?
