Players who have annoyed me so far this season and didn't play well today:

Atley - offering very little, feels like every possession he has will come back at us.
Thomas - worst form I have seen him in, great effort at the end today though
Cunnington - goes missing. Has stood up when we needed to get over the line, however if we would stand up earlier we would have iced two games very quickly. Choosing when to have effort.
Dal Santo - similar to above. Was good today in last, but has been in cruise control.
Garner - cameos only so far.

I think we need more compsure down back and more midfield run, and we are still yet to lose so wholesale would be dumb - I would go:

Changes for this week:

Atley OUT - Dal Santo to half back to replace Atley.
Dumont IN to midfield for Dal Santo (could be Mountford from the limited I have seen).
Garner OUT with hamstring.
Wood IN will give great versatility to a forward line which I think looks overall very good with the three talls and Boomer rotating through.

Thomas on reprieve. Cunnington needs to play each minute like the game is on the line.

Thomas has just been shithouse. No defensive pressure, can't kick anymore and is playing very selfish football.

Atley is giving us no run and carry. Instead he is panicking and turning it over regularly. Needs a spell.

Jacobs is useless if he's not tagging. He might be good at shutting down, but he's just about the worst midfielder in the league at offense and attack.

Nahas deserves his chance, carving it up in the magoos and Thomas needs to come out - perfect replacement.

Wood also deserves a shot. Tore *Ess VFL a new one on Saturday and Garner's injury opens up a spot.

I would drop Swallow for Frog, but that won't happen. Nonetheless, Dumont should come in. He is a very neat footballer.

Mullett can replace Atley as the dashing HB. If he's hurt from that fall however, bring someone like Clarke or even Mountford in.

Back on the Etihad deck the three talls will be better suited. Wood to play Garners role and work his arse off defensively. He has an opportunity now.

Swallow is not ready nor fit and Frog has done the work as deserves a crack in the midfield.

Atley is providing no drive at all and is a liability if all he offers is average defence. Needs a massive rocket. Mullett, if fit, to come in for him. If not then a reprieve.

There are reasons you could mount for omitting Lindsay from the team, but none of those reasons would be because he is trying to take hangers over key forwards or playing for free kicks to an unreasonable level. Not this season, and certainly not today. If you have examples of this happening today, why don't you edit them together and post them. Otherwise, it's fair to assume you are just flinging shit.

Spitta gave them momentum at the start of the second by missing a simple 20 metre pass.

I'd drop the tag and do McKenzie for Jacobs. Fyfe's untaggable and I don't think they have anyone else worthy of the honour, so let's see what the kid's got in a full strength team.

If Swallow's even remotely not right give him a rest for one of Dumont, Clarke or Mountford. Dumont with The first claim. Of The other two I suspect Clarke is more ready to go but would be more excited to see Dec.

Gibson stays.

Not sure Nahas or Turner have done enough to claim LT's spot right now but he'd be on thin ice and I'm not sure he isn't descending back down into the yips.

Wright is surely looking over his shoulder but can't see who's fit and demanding his spot.

3 changes after a win is unheard of under Scotts.

I'm not sure we would get smashed, we'd still have 16 reasonably good and experienced footballers, no Sandi or Mundy or indeed any forwardline of note.

It would be a ballsy, some might say insane approach, but winning with that them would feel like a premiership was around the corner, not a wet dream.

It would also have the effect of sending an enormous rocket up some of the pirates.

What pisses me off more than anything, is I could tell Wright was off in pre-season, yet the bloke getting 500k+ to manage and select us can't or won't acknowledge the bleeding obvious.

There's a premiership to be won this year and we have a massive shot at it.

It's poetic that you missed Lindsay Thomas' greatest contribution to the result due to a technical issue. Even if you'd been at the game, you would have sneezed and missed it. Or maybe outside taking a ****.

Like the move of Wells to forward/mid, in place of Garner! I'd say one of Clarke or even Mountford would have to come in to the midfield rotations to add some pace. As much as I'd love to see him play, I don't think adding Froggy to our already slow midfield will work.

Geez, Swallow was poor today for the 3rd week in a row. If the sub rule was still in, he'd be odds on to be sub next week, IMO.

If he's not 100% fit, they should do the right thing and leave him out next week. If he is 100% fit, well that doesn't bear thinking about.

Lot's of mediocre or worse performances today, yet we still won. As Brad said in the presser, both today's game and round 1 feel like games we would have dropped in the past. It's reasonable to conclude we have improved, but f*** me, not our second quarters. Still, I'm grabbing a 3-0 start and running away giggling.

It's ironic that LT could be so shit but 'win the game' for us. He could have pulled on a Melbourne jumper and kicked 5 for them, but as long as he made one pressure act in the F50 you'd say we have to bottle his blood and make all draftees inject it into their scrotums!
