Whose got money on B Crouch to be the next out the door?

Nah, no chance. Loves the city and loves the fact that he's in an AFL team with his brother. If anyone thinks Crouch is dirty on anyone but himself for being dropped then i think you're crazy. Also, if you think a run in the SANFL will only hurt him, you're crazy again. If his body can hold up in the SANFL (despite what people say, it is still damn tough on your body), and he gets a week or two of great form in, he'll be back in the seniors and better for it IMO.

To bad I was out when selection was announced but the meltdown on this site was predictable.

My mind has been all over the place regarding selection this week. On one hand it would have been super easy for the coaches to not make a single change and argue the narrative of a hard draw taking it's toll on the mentality of their players. Firstly, starting with VB; he has been one of the more consistent performers at SANFL level and I do believe that senior players who go back and do the right thing, train hard, don't drop their head and play well should be rewarded and not permanently placed on the scrap heap. I have no doubt though this is his last chance. If he gets dropped again for poor form he may as well just retire. Resting Matty is a good call. He is still undersize build wise for a strong inside mid and Lyons will be a good replacement. Brad should be given a good 4 games in the SANFL now as a minimum to achieve some good form. I see not one point in watching him get 40 disposals this weekend and then he comes straight back in. That's pointless. He needs to be able to prove he can back his form up week in and week out.

On a side note it was good hearing from Pods that Wigg and Gore could be up for AFL selection this year.

VB got 12 touches in his last SANFL outing. Admittedly he had a good last q and helped save us from defeat with coolness and leadership--but 12 friggin touches in the SANFL does not scream pick me in the seniors when there are others playing much better than that.

How did seedsman escape being dropped. His miss from the goalsquare was the turning point vs geelong. We somehow couldve hit the lead and he missed a set shot from the goalsquare. Add that to a meesly 6 possesions and it was one of the worst performances you would see from an afl player.
Douglas has been very, very average this year. His last 2 games have been pathetic. Had to be dropped. His missed set shots in the first quarter vs bulldogs 2 weeks ago set the tone for a bad day. Experienced players kick them. Not douglas.
Thompson shouldve been rested. End of story. His last 2 weeks have been shit. His midfield stoppage work vs geelong was a debacle.
Van berlo in is just the ****ing icing on the cake. His form in the sanfl has been behind
Cey, grigg, wigg, greenwood and doedee. What a load of shit afc. So much for being elite.

It's just meh now!!!

We will beat up on the Gold Coast. Look like a bunch of millionaires with the senior players getting coaches votes. 7 days latter, we will get rolled by the Giants and then the coaches will ask the question - what went wrong, we were gold last week.

Rinse and repeat against younger and less experienced teams. End of season, CEY and a few of the SANFL boys will get delisted yet the AFL senior boys will roll over for another pre seasons of hype and then another season of finishing between 6th and 10th.

Another year of nothing. No improvment to punish for a flag but won't drop down the ladder to force change.

Wonderful strategy AFC.

I think it's being lost that Lyons has played INFINITELY better footy in 2016 than Brad Crouch. It's really not even close.

VB is an ugly looking name on the team sheet, but I do like the fact that he can just sit on an actual opponent at half back, meaning that one of Hendo or Smith is released up the ground. Say what you want about VB as a footballer, but defensively he's quite simply better than either of those two and it's not particularly close. I was screaming before round 7 that you can't have Hendo and Smith in the same back 7. Looks like Pykey's joined that line of thinking.

I can only imagine Wigg was overlooked due to question marks about his defensive capabilities, and that improving our defense is a huge focus this week.

Didn't he have 38 touches his first game back? If you think SANFL form is a factor, you're mistaken.

Didn't he only play a half a game? Surely if you're serious about elite standards you don't promote a player based on a full 12 possession game.

I want to see:

Sando - Coach
Craig - Coaching Director
Noble - GM of Football Operations
Trigg - CEO
Smart - Chairman of the Board
Van Berlo - Captain

What a dream team that would be.
We had all but 2 of those at one point didn't we?

the same young guy who didn't follow team instructions and waltzed around the centre square looking for easy ball like he was playing at unley oval on a saturday arvo?

the club has their reasons for every decision. not all will be correct in hindsight, but bigfooty doesn't know half of the shit that goes on down there behind the scenes.
All the coaches and those on Match Committee would have a far better idea of what's going on in the team than any on BFF.

Matt and Brad have struggled of late, Brad hasn't played much footy and needs time, Matt has probably played with declining output, possibly due to fatigue (knackered...).

Lyon's was playing well against good teams and was unlucky to be dropped. VB brings in a wealth of experience, is an elite runner, with his disposal letting him down at times. Many of BFF don't rate him. I'm surprised he was selected but the MC would have had their reasons. I expected CEY to be given another chance but I'm sure his time will come.

I expect there will be quite a few different players rotating through the backline and midfield.

But it is nice to see everyone aghast that the MC haven't bothered to read the opinions of so many BFF experts before picking this weeks teams.
